I second this sentiment, looking forward to some videos!

Thanks People! Here's the update:

Itís been a long couple of days but I had a great time, the most fun Iíve had in ages! The lifters where amazing, the people were all super cool and very helpful. This isnít just a young manís sport, there were lifters from all ages there and it was awesome cheering them on. I think I was most impressed by the squats, I seen a few ultra slow motion squats Saturday where people refused to give up and ended up with a good lift. The USPA puts on at first class competition and those UFC gyms are pretty amazing themselves.

Hereís the video and highlights, skip the details below if you want:

3-17-13 USPA California State Benchpress & Deadlift Championships

I got 3 white lights on my first two lifts and failed on my 3rd attempt, it just wasnít happening today even though I was well under my max. But I really felt myself running out of gas on that second lift so I tried to play it safe by only going up 5 pounds for the final instead of a full 22 for 341.

I consider the competition a huge success overall. I learned an incredible amount and got some much needed experience with so many tiny things like picking a really safe opener, terms like ďin the holeĒ, ďon deckĒ and ďplatform readyĒ. I really think I did a great job following the commands.

Some of the other things I learned:

#1 Donít warm up too early.  Lifting was supposed to start at 0900 so I started warming up at 0830 even though I was in the 2nd flight of lifters. I shouldnít have started warming up until the 1st flight started their lifting and that was at 0915. I ended up warming up twice and I think thatís a big reason why Iíve been having chest spasms all day. One of the main people there told me if that happens in the future, just keep doing a few reps at 135 to keep the blood flowing, nothing more.

#2 Donít drive 2 hours each way 2 days in a row. The price of the extra gas would have easily paid for a hotel room and I would have been a hell of a lot fresher.

#3 One thing that was really throwing my off was getting a hand off from a spotter, itís just not something Iíve done since I started benching in my rack but itís something I need to practice next time.

#4 After your weigh in, you need to get your rack heights for bench and squats (I plan on doing a full power in September). This was no big deal but itís something I need to remember.

#5 Iím going to buy a slingshot or titan ram and start some overload training. Something a few of the really big benchers told me.

#6 Clapping for fellow lifters with two hands full a chalk is a bad idea, cheering is the better option.

Flex, is there a way to multi quote on here that I'm missing?
