think I'm going to run this for 4 weeks

Well it is a powerlifter program designed by a powerlifter

you probably need to taper for the meet - I would get some advice from someone that competes on this

I did, he said "don't do 5,3,1"

Did he say why??

Yes, he said it was better for long term PL'ing training than gearing up for a contest

Giving this a look over:

http://www.elitefts.com/sheiko/5_week_comp_cycle.htm

Looks like a solid program but you only have 3 weeks until your comp on 8-10. I guess you could just skip the first 2 weeks of the program and see how it goes.

Big thing is avoid any type of heavy work the week before, just try to keep loose and the blood flowing.

Another big thing is to consider the volume of work you'll be on that single day. 1 warm up for each lift and then 3 attempts for each lift and depending on the number of lifters, it could be a really long day. Don't warm up too early, I made that mistake and ended up warming up twice.

Here's a couple of good articles I found helpful:

http://www.supertraininggym.com/2011/09/your-first-powerlifting-meet/

http://articles.elitefts.com/training-articles/powerlifting-articles/tips-for-your-first-raw-powerlifting-meet/

Good luck man!

I have been running 5/3/1

I made my own templates up but this is a great site for anyone interested in running the program

http://www.strstd.com/

According to their calculator my squat is advanced, bench novice, and deadlift near advanced. o_O

It looks interesting. Another month and it will be time to get back on a program. Ill do it with Dave Tate schedule. Looks more exciting than the mad cow "plate change-up" I ran.

I was pretty happy as well but remember i think it takes all the non lifters in the calculation as well

I'm gonna be using that when I've relieved this "zen training" phase I'm going through. It's way easier than plugging numbers into my excel spreadsheet.

Thanks T-man.
