Belt Question
« on: January 15, 2019, 09:12:47 AM »
Long story short: Always been using a softer velcro type belt, stumbled upon a thick lever-style at a price I couldn't pass up.  Got it set at the smallest hole (xl) and while it needs broken in for squats,  it shimmys up when getting in position to deadlift.

Recommendations?
Drill another hole?
Add a bit of neoprene inside?

Either way I'm realizing that I should've pony'd up the money for a large, but  $25 was just too good to pass up.

Is it a 10MM? If so there isn't a "breaking in," it will always be pretty much the same.

Should have a belt tight enough to make you shit for squats, but not so much for deadlifts.  Shouldn't be nearly as tight for deads.

You can always punch more holes in it, sure.  Although if it's shimmying up on it's own, it may be telling you where it wants to be  ;)  There are many people who have to set their belt differently for squats vs deads, and I'm one of them.  For me, deads need the belt looser and set higher.  Failure to do this will result in a deficit of oxygen or excess of puking.   ;D

Well, I guess you could try removing some of the holes.

Not the pink one, although I'm not against that if it's your thing.

According to the description 10mm. Thought it would give a little after a month or two,  but not so uncomfortable that it matters if it stays that rigid.  But definitely gonna need to put in another hole.

I guess I never gave placement a second thought.  Usually the top of the belt rides right across my navel, which is where I'm having issues with this new version.  The softer velcro old one gives in the hip hinge when gripping the bar for deads, whereas the new one shimmys up in the back.

Thanks for all the advices. Might have to see if the local leather shop has a punch that will yield a smoother results than my dewalt drill?
