Shoulder issue (soft tissue, not joint)
« on: March 22, 2012, 03:51:41 PM »
I'm working through an injury. When it happened, it felt like something tore or shredded (literally) in my bicep, but the affected area right now is higher up, near the shoulder. Its getting better, but I feel weak when I try to lift things with my arm straight (flyes are the first thing that come to mind, just as an example).

I'm not looking for medical advice- just some thoughts on work around exercises. It's still a pain to get my arm in position to do back squats, so I substituted zerchers last night, and that worked out well. Thoughts?

1) If it hurts don't do it

2) I never take this advice myself.   ;D

Don't do militaries and try to keep it from doing hard work when in a compromised position.

Felt a pop in my shoulder while at work early last week and my shoulder has been sore every since. Kinda like you doesnt feel like the joint more muscular type pain, been trying to go lighter (than usual) since then, looking forward togoing heavy on the weights again tonight for my chest/tri workout tonight, will see how it goes!

The only move I had last night where I didn't feel any pain, fatigue or soreness was BOR's! OTOH, I barely got out 1x9 of upright rows. I'm truly not a happy camper, but am listening to my body and taking it slow. BUT, I get the impression that motion and flexing is helpful, so I'm putting my time in with the iron.

I did pretty good tonight, had to do all DB work for chest cuz power rack was taken when I got to gym. First time I did DB presses in a few weeks, 90's went real well for flat and got 80's for incline(with a little help out getting out of the hole) other than that everything was good. Also did a lot of stretching in between lifts!

It appears that my shoulder issue doesn't like lifting or straight-armed extension, as well as planks. I guess I'll just have to concentrate on lower body stuff for the time being.
