APA
« on: July 30, 2018, 10:33:08 AM »
Anyone done an APA meet?  I'm trying to find a meet that fits into my life, and I'm having a tough time.  I have a strongman comp the end of September, and I'd like to get in a full meet plus a deadlift only meet before the end of the year.  Just haven't heard of anyone doing an APA meet and they seem to run allot of them in my area.

I've been to one, I think that this Fed is supposed to be the red headed stepchild of feds, but the meet I went to was fine. I don't really have a problem with shirtless men sitting around drinking beer after their lifts.

My first meet was an APA meet. It was ran well, everything went smoothly. The only ting I noticed was the judging was super lax. There was this one woman who supposedly broke the APA record for squat. All three of her squats weren’t even close to parallel. Even my dad who knew nothing about powerlifting commented on it, he asked why she barely bent her knees

so.... A few weeks back, I went to the APA Northeast Regionals.  There were 19 lifters.  I was there incognito, to wrap a buddy's knees for Squat.

It was a laughable experience.  The judging was ridiculuous.  Head judge red flagging Depth, while sides gave Whites.  Head judge calling it, side judges waiting till he put up his flag before following suit.
THe Music cut-out midway through, and they just gave up on it.  The announcer mumbled, and you couldn't understand him, so you had to stand next to him and watch the screen read out to know where you were in the sequence.  was supposed to start at 830.  Started at 930.  THey finished squats at 1130.  19 lifters took two hours....
