Squat Form Help
« on: March 04, 2018, 03:25:10 PM »
Well only the 2 guys that read my journal know this but lately my squats have been rough. Any tips from this video? I know the depth sucks.

Have you considered dropping really fast into the hole and rebounding out?  KIDDING, I'm kidding, don't hurt me.   ;D

My grossly unprofessional $0.02 is that it looks like something is tight somewhere, so you can't hit depth and it's pitching you forward when you try to go deeper.  I get this a lot myself, for me it's usually when I haven't been working on the mobility in my ankles and they turn into 2x4's.

Get rid of those fucking shoes, widen your stance, point toes outward a bit.

Do that then take a better vid and we can go from there.

Struggling in my Addipowers as well.

I'm hitting depth until it gets heavy, then it's like I'm hitting a mental point where I decide to stop.

Advice duly noted and appreciated, keep them coming.

So....my squats aren't all that much....so my opinion is whatever you make of it.

It appears that you're leaning forward when you go down and back up. I base it on that your heels are moving up. Not a lot, but you can see them tip up when you start to descend and come back up. Then, when you have the weight back up and you are resetting, your heel is back flat again.

So, and this is just pure speculation, it looks like you squat high bar but are trying to squat like low bar? Looks like you have a lot of lean forward (like the heel shows) for a low bar squat but you have the bar in the position for high bar squats (where I think you are supposed to be more upright?).

I think that was my issue for sure today. I'm not "trying" anything though, the bar is just getting out front. My barbell is not tracking straight and it's folding me, I can't keep doing a semi-good morning with 300+

I might be completely off base, but, if you look at the image and imagine you have the high bar position but lean like the low bar then the weight shifts forward past the midline of the foot.

^^^ that was just trying to explain a bit more.

Since you like the bar high have you tried narrowing your stance and pointing your feet out more?

Next time, can you post a vid from the side so we can see what the bar is doing? I can see off the bat, when coming out of the hole, your butt rises first causing the bar to tilt forward and you having to good morning it back into proper position.

Re-read this thread and the trainer helped me on keeping the good light form for the heavier stuff.

Looking better?
