« on: December 16, 2017, 11:01:37 AM »
Posted on Facebook and Instagram making a big deal about it.

I go there yesterday and don't see it.  Where is it?  LOCKED UP SO NO ONE CAN USE IT.

Nope.  It's not out on the floor they keep it locked up.

Next time I do squats or deads there I will ask.  I joined another gym closer to home that I have been going to 50% of the time.

They want to keep it pretty, none of that messy chalk and blood on it.

My gym got a couple of them last year, aggressive knurling and well balanced. A yr+ later and the knurling is worn down a bit but still damn nice bars with zero bend in them.

How does knurling wear down?  serious question..I wouldn't think metal would wear from hands.......maybe bc it's in the fact that it is soft enough to be knurled?

Over time all knurling will wear down.

Rolling a bar around on a metal rack will kill the knurling right quick.

My Rogue Monster rack that I have at home has these replaceable composite pads that wear down so they do less damage to the knurling on the bar than bare steel.

Oxidation and wear and tear from human hands/oils/chalk etc would take a helluva long time to wear down decent knurling.

In your garage maybe, but bars in gyms are in use like 12 hours a day. I was thinking of this today and was reminded of the guy who escaped from jail by using dental floss to cut the steel bars. Of course dental floss is softer than steel, but when you've got countless hours on your hands, you can spend it just sawing at the bar all day and half of the night and eventually get a groove, then some microscopic shavings and eventually cut through.

I have one. It's a decent bar.  I use it for everything but deadlifts, or anything that I'd rather use a beater bar for.  For deadlifts I have an okie deadlift bar.  The Texas power bar is a nice stiff bar with knurling appropriate for bench an squats.  The okie deadlift bar has some nasty knurling, it's a little thinner, longer, and has a ton of whip.  I've had both for a little over three years.

Santa just added a couple goodies to my specialty bar collection.  8)
