Doing good Dave, you’re gonna blow away your current meet total next time you compete. How did that 225lb bench feel?

About a RPE 7 to 7.5 maybe.  It went up really fast.  I'm going for a rep pr with 235 in a few day! Really hoping I can get 3.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

TSA
Test Week
Day 1 and 2

Squat

1-3 x 315 - Failed rep.  Lost it on the way back up.  Just seemed to have lost all tightness when I hit the sticking point. It felt good starting off the hooks and on the way back up.  It surprised me that it just stopped  I probably could've put in a bit more fight too on that rep.  Tried one more but was well in my head at that point.  Very happy I got it last week or I'd be sharpening my knitting needles at this moment.

i had planned to squat last night and family obligations ending up getting me home around 10 pm so decided to wait for this morning.  No excuses, well rested. I'm not sure what happened there.  Just still an rpe 10 I guess and I didn't quite have it today.  Didn't row.  Sulked instead ::)

Evening...

Bench

2 x 235 (rep pr)

1 x 245 (weight pr)

235 was my previous pr last April at the meet. I might have tried for a 3rd but it would've been ugly.  245 had my butt off the bench a bit but I'm counting it for a gym pr and using that for my next round of TSA.

OHP

5 x 115

So the good the bad and the ugly today.  I started this cycle after a few months of dieting and planned on it to be a get back up to speed round and that's what I did with a few pr's along the way.

I'll test deads tomorrow and start round 2 early next week!

TSA
Deads Test Day

Deads

2 x 405 (rep pr)

Had another 2 reps minimum in the tank there but decided to stop at 2 because rep 2 went up quite well and I stupidly decided to go for broke.

F x 455
F x 455

I broke the ground by about 2 inches with each attempt. I probably should have just kept going with 405 and gone for 5 reps like I had initially planned or at the very least 435 which would have been a weight pr by 5 lbs.  I was pretty sure I had 4 at the very least there with 405 anyway.  Ah well, if I haven't learned at this point I may never learn  ::)

Went for a 435 attempt after but was pretty beat up and didn't move it.  Pulled another 2 405 reps and then finished with a triple at 365.

Didn't close grip bench.

Overall I'm not disappointed at all though.  I got greedy with 455 but thrilled with how well 405 went.  First rep was slow and second felt quicker and easier.  I have a very good feeling for this next round of TSA which I'll start this week!

Nice pr there Dave. There was more there for sure. Guess you got a little to ambitious with 455. Go for broke I guess. It'll come soon I bet. Way to finish the cycle.

I started a new program tonight from Bryce Krawczyk. His youtube channel Calgary Barbell is really good. It's 16 weeks with a good mix of percentage and rpe style training which is exactly what I was looking for.  And a ton of volume too.  I will run this to the end and then do 1 more round of TSA which I'll also use to peak for the meet in April.  Timing should work out perfect!

If anybody is interested in checking it out: http://www.calgarybarbell.com/free-16week-program/

Calgary Barbell 16 Week
Week 1 l Day 1

Squats

7 x 210
7 x 210
7 x 210
7 x 210

Light weight but I'll be walking funny tomorrow  :P

Paused Bench 1 count

7 x 165
7 x 165
7 x 165
7 x 165

Harder than I thought it would be by the end!

OHP

8 x 95
8 x 115
5 x 135
3 x 115

Was going for 8 with 135 but lost my balance a little on rep 6.  Reracked and never got it going again.

DB Rows

12 x 70s
12 x 70s
12 x 70s

Back Ext

12 x BW
12 x BW
12 x BW
12 x BW

I'm going to like this program! Weights are pretty light during weeks 1-4.  I entered my maxes after last round of TSA 315 245 435 (I didn't hit 435 but I know I would've so I took a bit of a liberty here)
