Bando and blood pressure monitors

Bando

I know you have at times got wacky readings out of bp machines.  Just wanted to share how inaccurate they can be.   For the hell of it I tried one of those ones at the pharmacy the other day.  It said I was 145/85 or something crazy like that.

Had a physical today,...BP 114/72.   Dont trust those machines.   I have heard they dont measure larger arms right....so look at it as a compliment.

That said, my home Omron unit measures within 4-5mm of what they say at the Dr's.   Id recommend one if you want to keep an eye on it.

They are going through a law suit right now due to the HR monitor being inaccurate.

I have a Garmin VivoFit HR (only had it about a week), and it is SO wrong on the heart rate.  It says my average resting heart rate is 47.  No way, unless I'm going into hibernation during sleep at night and it's counting that.  I'm not a runner and don't even do much cardio.  During the day when I look at it it usually says the current rate is in the 50's or 60's, but when I actually count it myself it's around 80, which is consistent with my doctor's office readings.

For BP, my home monitor seems consistently in line with the doctor's office readings.  The drug store or grocery store monitors are wildly variant.
PRs:
OHP 140 - 8/27/15
BP 245 - 4/7/17
DL 345 - 8/26/15
Squat - ugh
Leg Press 670x2 - 12/10/15

So I take a beta blocker (Atenlol 50mg) for hypertension. Last week I got stranded for a couple days in Philadelphia due to a storm, had no meds so had a nasty hypertension headache. Got home, took meds, still had the headache. Bought a good blood pressure monitor and it's consistently like 147/80  :(

Before the one day off meds I was fine. Calling doc in the morning and upping cardio.
