Oops!
« on: February 29, 2016, 10:59:15 AM »
So, I was planing on doing the April 24th rps Vermont / New Hampshire meet as a bench only meet.  Someone asked me about the meet, and I realized I had not yet signed up for the meet yet.  Well, it's sold out.  I knew of two others in my area, but they where both too soon for me to really train for.  Thankfully I found another meet not too far from home in May.  King and Queen of the bench.  It's in Nashua NH.  Anyone done this meet before?

I guess the moral is, don't forget to register for a meet your training for.

I do as well. It's going to be a good one.

Jamie always sets up a waiting list, but that fills up quickly as well.

I have the fed membership for epf.  I've done two of they're meets.  A little different from the couple rps meets I've done.

Syracuse is just way too far for me to travel.  I'd love to do a meet where I would get to see some of the guys and girls from this forum, but I have not yet traveled for a meet.  My kids are 11, 9, and 6, so travel for a meet is kind of hard to justify until they get a little older.

I emailed Jamie to put me on a cancellation list, but after thinking about it another month to train won't be a bad thing.  I'm kind of anal, so training for something that I'm on a cancellation list for would kill me.

Either way I screwed up.  I also really need to dial in my bench.

WTF.  I can't catch a break with meets this year.  I was training for the RPS meet April 23rd, and like a dummy didn't sign up in time.  It was sold out, Jamie had a big wait list, so I signed up for an EPF meet in Nashua NH may 21.  No biggie, it's a bench meet and I was training for a bench only anyway.  Training has been going very well and after this weeks deload I will have a couple weeks to push hard, one deload week and boom it's May 21.  Well, not so fast.  I got an email yesterday that the EPF meet is cancelled.  WTF, so now I'm on the hunt for another meet.  Josh Bryant does my programming and he'd like to see me get in a meet this May.  He tells me "I'm ready", and would like to see me do a full meet.  My options are WABDL in ME May 14'th.  They can accommodate me, but all their stuff online is geared lifting and I can barely figure out how to lift raw.  They said they have raw categories though, but it's a push pull.  Then there is a SPF meet in RI May 15th, they can also accommodate me and it's a full meet.  If I push things out there is an EPF meet close to home June 4th, and an RPS meet in CT June 24th.  I think I can scratch the 24th off the list.  Anyone have any experience with SPF, or WABDL?  I'm leaning towards the SPF meet.  Even though I've been training for a bench only meet, all three lifts are in a pretty good place, so I'm thinking of taking my coaches advice and doing a full meet.  Even though I told myself I was not going to punish myself with a full meet this go around.

Thanks

I'd avoid the SPF, their track record has been declining, and their Meets have a reputation for dragging and being in disarray.

Now, the RPS CT STATES in June, that one will be a very good Meet.  I'm competing at it, as well one of my clients is.  There will be a big group of people that I know, and it'll be much more enjoyable than either of the other ones you've mentioned.  I'm headed down there on Saturday morning, weighing in, and eating my way into the next day, and will compete on the 26th.

Can't go wrong with rps, but it's just too far off.  Your right though.  I've only done EPF and RPS, but the difference is night and day.  I don't take it too seriously, so as long as it's not an unsafe environment for the lifters not much bothers me.

There's no way you could do a geared meet now.  Geared lifting is a whole different world and technique and I don't think you have enough time to train for that.

I wasn't even considering it.  I would be more clueless than usual.  Just thought it was odd that all their stuff online for wadbl is geared.  I have a hard enough time figuring out how to put my pants on in the morning.

Here we go again.  Signed up for a meet June 4th.  It's close to home, and I've competed in this location twice already.  Should be interesting to see what cancels this one for me.  I said screw it and signed up for full power.  I figure someone above didn't want me doing a bench only meet.  Since I was originally training for a April 24th meet that was sold out, and then training for a May 21st meet that was cancelled, I can certainly not complain that I didn't have enough time to train.

I'm just under two weeks out from my next meet.  Been a few bumps in the road, but I think I'm in a good place.  I'm at the point of trying to figure out wtf my attempts should be.  I've attached two video's from the other night.  The deadlift is 515, my form sucks and it looks like an rdl, but it was after 10 at night and my body was junk.  The squat is 445.  The depth on the squat looks questionable to me, but I think the weight moves well.  I'm not sure yet what my attempts will be, but I'm thinking 455, 515, 530 on the deadlift and 405, 455, 475 on the squat.  I'll post my bench vids after my next workout to see what you all think.  Any advice or criticism would be greatly appreciated.  I like light openers because I'm a pussy, and I like to treat it like my last warm up.  It's worked better for me than three heavy attempts.

Thanks

I'd have white lighted the squats.  They were on the edge, but still good.  Those numbers looked like a good grouping.
