Welcome to the journal section. I will echo everyone else and say that is some very strong pressing.  8)

Thanks bro! It's still short of BW, but I will get there.

1xBW OHP is a serious milestone that I want. I'm still grinding for the others too,  2xBW DL, 2xBW Squat and 1.5xBW bench <----This one is a long way off!

These are my long term goals. I hope to hit 2 by 40 (3 years).

Thanks Yuri,

Glad to finally find another person that knows of LRB. I thin Paul is a great resource, very dogmatic, but embraces science.

Well I have DL'd over 2x BW and and benched over 1.5x BW. The only time it's good to be a lightweight. LOL

Doubt I'll ever squat 2x BW though.  :S

Because my squat numbers are abysmal. I think my max squat was 255, when I was doing 5/3/1 last year and squatting seriously. Doubt I could do that for 1 rep now.

IMO, If you are looking to add strength I have heard from lots of first hand accounts that 5/3/1 really is not the way to go.

Toby

No reason you can't double body squat! My bench has always been poverty, but I finally broke 300# for the first time in life a few months ago. It's possible, it'll just take serious patience.

Yuri

I've heard the same of 5/3/1, but normally from the stand point of lacking volume to build a base of strength.

Interesting. I'm currently running a modified version of 5/3/1 (3/5/1 PL style). Coming into cycle 2 now I have found it to be pretty good. It's basic and to the point, it does mind you lack in volume work. But I've added in a boring but big style for that. So far so good.

 Each to their own, right?

Personally I have done well with work from Jason Ferruggia and so far 5/3/1. I have NOT done well with Johnnie Canditos training (this isn't to say its bad, far from). Though I have known those to do quite well with Canditos style of training.

 It's all individual.

BBB template should be plenty of volume, mind you the majority of it is at submaximal lifts, but you can do the 3 month challenge to fix that.

Oh for sure you get all the volume you can swallow with BBB, that's just what I've heard and experienced on 5/3/1. BBB required more equipment than I had at home and my inexperience didn't allow me to substitute properly. I did have great success in increasing strength (1rm) on the program, but I didn't notice real mass gains until switching to Lift-Run-Bang programs.

Week 1 Day 3 Lower body #1

I did not have high hopes for this session seeing that my knees have been bothering me for a couple of weeks, but I checked the box. Put in the work.

Standing Calf Raises (focused on slow eccentrics)

25 x 15
25 x 15
25 x 15

Skwats

170 x 5
215 x 4
255 x 3
320 x 2 (added sleeves)
360 x 1
315 x AMAP  (6) 👎😝
315 x 50% set (3)

GHD

15
15
15
15

Split squats (each leg)

15
15
15
15

Felt some tightness/pain in my lower back and would normally blame my piriformis, but I've learned recently that it's tight hip flexors!  Stretched this puppies out really good before abd after the split squats abd all is well for now.

Again, definitely a (-) session, I'd say -5, but I felt better after so that makes it all worth it.
