OK.

Is it that ridiculous bb.com stunt that guy did, or some legit set a day thing?

Stronglifts squats every workout, but it's not every day. I'd imagine you need recovery time.
EVERYTHING you put in your body matters IF you want to reach your maximum potential.

IMHO if you could squat every day you're not working hard enough.

I could squat twice a week, but only if I removed deadlifts.

Squatting every session is one thing, everyday just seems overkill.  A lot also depends on how much weight you are squatting.  There's a big diffence between a guy that maxes out at 300 compared to a 700lb squatter.  The 700lb squatter will need more time to recover.

I squatted once every day...and it lasted a grand total of 3 days before I called it stupid and moved on.

I don't know how the Smolov guys do it but I'm grateful I don't have to.

I front squat every day, well 5 days a week, 15 singles with 5-30 secs rest between sets.

it can be done, as long as you keep the volume each day and intensity on the lower end.  I would say 85% your 1RM would be plenty even with doing 15 reps a day...that comes out to 75 a week, just like doing 5x5 3 days a week.
