Cycle 8 Week 4  40%, 50%, 60% x 5  Deload week.

Tuesday 11/18/14  202.4 lbs  18 Mins.

OH Press:

60 x 5
75 x 5
90 x 5

Rows:

90 x 5 x 5

Good time to deload as most of my joints seem sore today.  May be the cold that has settled in here.  Threw in a few pullups and my shoulders did not like them.

Cycle 8 Week 4  40%, 50%, 60% x 5  Deload week.

Wednesday 11/19/14  202.6 lbs  12 Mins.

Deadlift:

135 x 5
170 x 5
205 x 5

Again, deload week is right on time.  A combination of factors lead to this.  It seems I've tweaked my left knee playing football on Sunday.  Along with that my joints, mainly my shoulders are more sore than normal.  And lastly, my motivation level is just way down this week.

Thanks guys.  Appreciate the support.  It's been a tough couple of weeks.  Amazing how much a loss affects your strength.  I don't know if my joints are more sore than usual or if I'm just not able to tolerate it as much.  We'll see next week as things normalize.

Skipped Friday's deload squat day.  Woke up to a water yard line break.  Spent the day digging a pit, repairing line and covering the pit.  Good enough for me.

Also, played football again on Sunday.  Body is starting to handle this weekly ritual better than at first.  Only real problems I have now is sore ankle (they roll alot) and a sore throwing shoulder as I usually play QB.  Been fun mixing it up with guys 15 - 30 years younger than me.  I compete and I'm not a liability which feels good.

Cycle 9 Week 1  65%, 75%, 85% x 5.

Monday 11/24/14  203.4 lbs  59 Mins.

OH Press:

95 x 5
110 x 5
125 x 1 (Failed.  These were tough today.)

OH Press Volume work:

100 x 5 x 5

Bent over Rows:

90 x 5, 130 x 8, 140 x 8, 150 x 8, 160 x 8

Rows volume work w/1 minute rest between sets:

90 x 10 x 5

I'm wondering if my OH press is suffering from playing football on Sundays.  They do get worked pretty good from making tackles, fending off tacklers and throwing the ball.  I know I'm eating in a surplus so that shouldn't be the problem.  May have to consider changing my order.

Today's training was brought to you by the audio book "Young Stalin" by Simon Montefiore.

Your OHP may be affected by the football, especially if you are doing a lot of throwing. Maybe switch it to a different day?

Be careful playing too. A guy I used to work with broke his leg playing a weekly touch football game.  :o

Yeah, I'm wondering about that too.  I'll have to re-think my whole week.  I think we may be switching to Saturdays.  That may help.

I don't go at as hard as the young guys do.  I usually run until its obvious I'll be tackled then just go down easy.  I have a lot of concern that an injury will affect my lifting.

If you are throwing a lot it's going to effect the shoulder and the triceps on your throwing arm. That's a workout all on it's own. Then you're hitting the exact same muscle group the following day. Even if your games move to Sat I'd still switch your workout so you have at least 2 full days between throwing and OHP day.
