Watching my OH press video really shows I'm getting fat.  I'll cut at some point but I have a goal of squatting 300 and I have learned that I can't squat on a cut.    So, hopefully a 300 squat will come before I hit 300 pounds.

Good work going on in here.  I lie to myself and say that my belt is squishing my abs up over my belt.  Helps me achieve my goals of lifting heavier stuff.   8)

One day I'll cut.  But for now, I'm enjoying gainz and considering just staying with 181 lb class.

Yeah. I try and lie too myself a bit too but I'm back in my big boy jeans again. As long as I stay sub 205 I'll be ok.  Go over that and I'll have to rethink things.

I was gonna start cutting in January but decided to hold off till end of February. Till then I'll just continue to loosen my belt. lol

Fat, or back arch on those OHP's?  They say an arch is okay on OHP as long as you feel stable and have no lower back problems with it.  I know I arch too, but I really try to keep it to a minimum.

I wish it was arch.  I'm fat.    Although I'll look at the vids and see if I am overdoing it.  I follow the starting strength model of technique.

Cycle 8 Week 2  70%, 80%, 90% x 3

Deadlifts:

240 x 3
275 x 3
310 x 5  This is plus 2 but 5th rep had a rounded back.



Last rep was bad.  I know I have a posture issue in my upper back.  Given that I really try and keep my lower back flat.  Did not happen on that last rep. 

Leg Curls:

60 x 10 x 5

Barbell lunges:

45 x 10 x 5

Took 2 caffeine pills today.  Not sure it made a difference.  I'll go back to one on Thursday.  Overall a good session.  My quads are shot after all those lunges tough.

Benchpress:

155 x 3
175 x 3
200 x 2 (Failed on 3rd rep.)
200 x 1  Was upset with failure, rested 7 minutes and tried again.  Only got 1 rep.



Failed on my proscribed 3rd rep today which sucked because I was feeling really good.  No should issues at all today.  Was nice and warm, felt strong then bam, failure.  Not happy with that so I gave myself a 7 minute rest and tried again and only got 1 rep.   Weird how sometimes you feel great and don't succeed and sometimes your don't want to lift and you have your best performances.    I do feel like got good work though.  My chest muscles really felt worked after..so there is that.

Incline press:

90 x 10 x 5

Barbell Curls:

40 x 10
50 x 10
60 x 10
70 x 10
75 x 4

Face pulls:

40 x 10 x 5

Friday 11/07/14 200.0 pounds  1hr 21 mins.

Cycle 8 Week 2  70%, 80%, 90% x 3

Squats:

180 x 3
205 x 3
230 x 6  (+3 on required reps.  Was aiming for 7 but 6th rep got a bit shaky)



First rep had too much forward lean.  Corrected that.  Reps 2 - 5 pretty good.  Rep 6 had too much butt lift out of the hole.  Overall, very happy with the lift.  6 reps at 230 is a pr for me at the weight, although I've done 5 reps at 235.  Next week I'll be going for a real PR at 240.

Calf Raises:

190 x 20, 20, 16, 16, 16.  10 pound move up in weight.  Build to 20 across to move up again.

SLDL:

150 x 10 x 5.  10 pound move up in weight.  Last set was a good stretch to the floor.

OH Press:

110 x 5
123 x 3
138 x 1.5  (Strongest I felt on OH press in weeks. This is also a PR for me)



Got 1.5 reps.  First rep as usual was somewhat of a push press.  That general gets my momentum going.  Considering how the previous 2 weeks went with this lift I was very happy with today's results.

OH Press volume work:

95 x10, 9, 5
90 x 7, 5

Barbell rows:

90 x 5, 130 x 3, 140 x 8, 150 x 8, 160 x 8

Rows volume work:

90 x 10 x 5.  Concentrated on pulling bar up higher on my chest.

Deadlifts were really tough today.  I did them outside my normal routine as I had some things to take care of today. Basically lifted in a fasted state with just some caffeine, pwo bcaa's, creatine and sugar.  My warm ups were a struggle.  The only thing that got me through was know it was a PR attempt.  So, I got it done.

Leg curls:

65 x 10 x 5

Barbell Lunge:  (Changed this from low weight/high rep to higher weight/low rep)

90 x 5 x 5

How do you like barbell lunges? I've always done DB lunges. Not sure I'd be real comfortable doing barbell.

How do you like barbell lunges? I've always done DB lunges. Not sure I'd be real comfortable doing barbell.

Thanks Sak.   Barbell lunges are tough in the sense that they really engage all your stabilizer muscles.  They aren't really triggered much in your basic compound lifts.  You gotta start real light cause it is very easy to take a bad movement path.   Until yesterday I was doing just the bar for 10 reps each leg (5 sets) for a few weeks until I got good and used to the movement.  Bumped up to 90lbs for 5 reps (5 sets) yesterday.  The last set was very tough. 

I would do DB lunges if I had them.

Funeral on Friday, could not lift so did it Monday.  Also, played football on Sunday.
