You're doing great, Lisa.  Not all days are PR worthy.

 Lisa,

You did a helluva job on those deads. It's normal on the hands to be like that. When I did my rack pulls last week I tore a chunk of skin off the palm of my hand. I have since super glued everything to stop the cracking and bleeding....but that's besides the point.

Hands being sore like that is fairly normal when doing heavy deads. (in my personal experience at least).

the volume you did today was amazing, your volume sets are more than what some of the guys at the gym use as a max rep. Your doing great!

 ;D

I am pretty sure you got 2 reps with 215...

I think you're right - that's when I said "why did I do that?"  and you said "because you can"!

Good work. You'd expect your hands to be unhappy after picking up heavy weight ~46 times haha

Thanks!  Yeah, "unhappy" is a good word for it.  Ouch!

Thanks Ron!

Okay, this Hoist thing is a hoot.  The seat goes up as you pull the handles in towards you.  It's like a carnival ride.  Great fun!  But geez, it was hardest on my grip and forearms, not my back.

Tons of work to do today, then it's a peaceful Friday night with Mr Flexy.  Beef goulash for dinner.

Happy Friday!

LMAO

But geez, it was hardest on my grip and forearms, not my back.

That is because:

a) it has fat handles, which are harder to hold

and

b) the handles are articulating, which requires more wrist/forearm strength to keep them in place.

I usually rotate them slightly during the movement so at the beginning of the movement they are parallel to the floor and at the end of the movement they are perpendicular to the floor.

Try that next time.  :)

Squat party with Mr Flexy and Merkley and Mrs Merkley.  I pulled out the knee sleeves for the first time in a long long time.  As agonizing as they are to get on and off, they paid off.  Lisa finally squatted 2 plates.  If I could only get that 135 bench, I'd feel like I was lifting with the grown-ups.

Squats:
BW x 8
Bar x 8
95 x 8
135 x 6
155 x 6
175 x 3
185 x 2

With sleeves:
185 x 1
185 x 3
205 x 1
225 x fail (couldn't get up)
225 x 1 - Yay!!
185 x 3
185 x 3
185 x 3
185 x 3
185 x 3

Grocery shopping afterwards, now I'm going to make us some sammiches.

Happy Weekending!

Thanks All!  It was a day I won't soon forget.  I was knackered all evening.  I hurt from my knees to my neck today.

April 26, 2015

Bench party today with Mr Flexy and Merkley.  I finally lifted 135.  But, it was a looooong crazy lift.  One arm up, then the other arm, then one arm falls down a bit, back up again.  Crazy.  I have to say, I laughed like hell when it was done.  Flex says there's no way it would be green-lighted at a comp, but I think psychologically this was most beneficial.  I tried a second time, but failed.  I was just beat.  Followed that up with some triples at 115, then had a little fun with the slingshot.

Bench Press:
45 x 8
75 x 8
85 x 8
95 x 8
105 x 3
115 x 2
125 x 1
130 x 1
135 x 1 (kinda)
135 x fail
115 x 3
115 x 3
115 x 3
115 x 3
115 x 3

With Slingshot:
135 x 5
135 x 5
135 x 4

Then I was beat.

We went out for a burger with Mr and Mrs Merkley, then a couple of errands and now I'm thinking a hot shower is in order.  Sore as heck from yesterday.

Happy Sunday!
