The flu and other forms of creeping crud
« on: April 12, 2012, 12:59:08 AM »
Just getting over a nasty 24/48 hour bug of some sort. Major sinus headache, drainage and sore throat, as well as body aches. I think its better to err on the side of caution and give the weights a rest until the crud leaves. Any thoughts, other than wimp?

I did squats last night while loaded up with sudafed.

Monday, co-workers kid was sick and instead of staying home, he brought the kid to work with him, because he couldn't bring him to Daycare.  Small office, two very sick people, now spread to everyone.

I go either way.  Drop the gym for a week or load up on meds and do it up.

Do not fear The Iron, for it does not care.

I've done both recently and in the future will bias my decision towards the gym versus away from it.  The only reason I would think to stay home is if I feel fatigue and/or body aches.  Otherwise, I'm in there for sniffles/coughing type illnesses.

Agreed.  The only time I don't follow this rule is when I've prepped for a contest.  And even then, I typically give myself a bit of a break.

Same here, only fever and/or bad aches keep me out of training.

It ended up only being a day or two off.  Hard to lift when you're breathing through your mouth and snot is everywhere.  :o

When I'm sick I'll lift, I do alot of circuits to get the heart rate and body temp up.
