The Price of the Platform
« on: July 17, 2014, 03:31:59 PM »
As I debate my goals back and forth, I think about what this all really means to me, and the consequences.

Elite FTS published this article after interviewing multiple old elite lifters.

The Price of the Platform.

There's more than a few that are applicable to me.

I'm astounded at some of the numbers these guys ran.  5000-7000mgs a week.  I don't run that in an entire 10 week cycle.... Yikes!! That's almost a bottle a week.  I'd be a freaking monster, if I was still able to move.

I thought "elite" meant drug tested and clean?

I did too, and I just figured that he wasn't using it as classifying a division.  Elite as in "The strongest of the strong."

I'm still looking at that 7000mgs/week.  I'm hitting 400mgs (100x4shots), and I can't even comprehend almost 20 times that amount.  He's ijecting nearly entire syringes each shot.  Either he pins damn near every large muscle on his body, or the numbers are a bit "Exaggerated".

Well if you're going to write an article about powerlifting maybe you should read up on the terms used in the sport, then use them correctly.

Know what I'm saying?

Bando

Found this about "elite".   I dont think it is a 'drug free' term only.

I reckon each fed has a different definition.

With my very limited PL'ing experience, I'm inclined to agree with the RPS definition of a natty, tested lifter as an elite.

I watched a gal front squatting 200 for reps, talked with her awhile, she kind of sheepishly mentioned her numbers and said that she was classified as an elite, she was 19 at the time. She was in our lifting club.

I watched a 181 lb guy in my club squat 540 in a comp and the judge said "you should have competed as an elite," this was not RPS.

That's about the limit of my experience with the "elite" term
