Chalk?
« on: March 19, 2014, 09:22:33 AM »
Screw these straps. Tired of the pause while getting them set up on deadlifts. Time to man up and start using chalk.

How can there be differences in freakin chalk? What's everyone buying here?

Plane old Magnesium Carbonate here.

I bought what you see here (8 bricks in one big box) for $9 almost 3 years ago and I still have some left.  And I gave away a brick.

It's cheap as shit and the best thing you can have in your gym bag IMHO.

Ditto, although I think I paid a few dollars more last Fall.
I put one brick in a gallon freezer bag and pack it with me.

Wish I could use chalk at my gym,  I use a Rosen bag and it makes a big difference in grip.

If they hassle you about chalk get some liquid grip.  It's kinda pricey and not as good as chalk, but it helps.

Thought so.  Thanks guys.  Placing my order today.

Luckily my gym is totally cool with chalk and lifting heavy shit and making noise and stuff (within reason).  As long as you don't make a total mess its all good.  There's usually chalk on every oly bar in the place at any given time.

I keep mine in a Ziploc container and whenver I use it I grab some paper towels and throw them on the floor and put the container in the middle of it.  That way the guy that cleans the gym knows I'm trying not to make a big mess so he doesn't hassle me about it.  When I'm done I close up the cotnainer and throw it back in my gym bag, then fold up the paper towels with the excess chalk and toss them in the trash.

I bet you re-rack your weights when you're done too.  Crazy talk.  That's all that is.
