New Lifting Shoes
« on: March 14, 2014, 09:07:53 PM »
For almost 4 years, I've been working out in cross training and running shoes.  I figured it was finally time to try a pair of dedicated lifting shoes.  I'll have to change into them after the cardio warmup, and back out of them for the cardio at the end of the workout, but I think it will be worth it.

I went with the Adidas Powerlift 2.0 shoe:

I'll be trying them out for the first time tomorrow morning on some deadlifts.  I'll let you know what I think of them, and report back again after I get to squat in them next week.

I have those same shoes and been using them for about a month.  I like mine a lot, but only use them for squats.  They should last a while.

For the first day in the gym, they seem pretty good.  I wore them the whole time I lifted to try and break them in a little.  They are definitely more stable when dead lifting.  I think the more telling lift will be squats on Tuesday.  The got a much lower heal then the shoes I normally wear, and much more side to side stability.

One thing I did notice is they are not nearly as well ventilated as the sneakers I normally wear, and my feat got hot as hell wearing them for that long!

Finally got a chance to wear these for squats.  What a freakin' difference!

I would not have believed shoes could make such a difference.  I felt anchored to the floor and much more stable than squatting in my cross-trainers.  Also wore them for shrugs, overhead presses and front squats.

I really like the lower heel as well as compared to the cross-trainers.

These are great so far, and a good deal at $90 from Adidas compared to a lot of the other lifting shoes.
