Thanks man.  I was supposed to lift today.  I carbed up yesterday on all kinds of pastas and tater salad but had a bit too much holiday cheer.  Woke up at noon and have just been holding the couch down all day.  I'll have to double up tomorrow.

I think I'm going to split my workouts up a bit beginning next week.  One movement per day going Squat, Bench, Squat, Bench, Deadlift, Bench, etc.  No scheduled days off but I can take one or two depending on how I feel.

Piss poor session.  Too many days off, too much bad food, too much drinky over the last few days.  Wrapping was a real struggle.  I couldn't get them both to end up the same and was getting very frustrated.  Need more practice again. I ended up dumping 405 (vid below) that should have been an easy set.  Did only squats since I'll be doing one movement per day from here on out.

Lowbar Squats (wraps & belt) - 2 reps per set, @9, 5% load drop
   335 x 2 @7
   365 x 2 @8
405 x 1 @9.5 -  >:(  bar drifted forward and I couldn't bring it back.  Luckily, the bar is fine and doesn't seem bent.
   385 x 2 @8
   385 x 2 @8.5
   385 x 2 @9

Wow that drop was scary, everyone has good days and not-so-good days.

And I feel like an idiot because I just realized BLK00TJ= Black 2000 TJ

Yeah, I didn't realize until after watching the vid how close I was to smashing my fingers and putting an end to my surgical career (not a surgeon).  Maybe a set of rogue safety straps isn't such a bad investment after all.  I thought they were overpriced at $165, but after seeing the video, I'd like to keep my fingers intact.  It'd still hurt, but shouldn't be nearly as bad and better for the bar too.

the first thing I think about in a failed squat is where my hands are, in most of my gyms it's never an issue because the safeties are so wide

Only one thing was going through my mind at the time.  Disappointment. :-[

Man I thought you had that even though I know you didn't.  So close.

Glad you didn't get hurt.  I smashed my middle finger re-racking 315 about 20 years ago and hurt like a motherfucker.

Damn, I didn't even think of that.  Switching hands would take a while to get used to. :o

I was thinking pulled back muscles when you dropped that.  I tend to just go ahead and sag at the knees on my fails.  glad you are ok.

You could probably just use some ratchet straps as safeties for $25, just check the rating, I believe they'll hold quite a bit of weight.

You got lucky with that drop, could have ended badly.  I don't know what happened Friday, but I had the same problem.  I dropped 465 from the top of my lift, I think I got too vertical and it slid down my back and hit the safeties.
