I'll be off from training for a couple of weeks due to post-meet deload and a vacation.  I took some time to look back on my progress on the Wilks scale though 8)

Finally back at it today.  17 days since touching a barbell (meet) and 23 days since a training session in the basement.  Feeling fat and lazy from the time off and vacation foods all last week, I didn't go heavy at all.  However, what I did felt good and will probably make me a little sore tomorrow.

I didn't track in detail like I usually do but I did some light skwats (3x5@275), some banded deadlifting (2x5@225 w/ orange band), and first time using my brand spanking new SSB yoke bar for some SSB box squats (2x5@195).  The SSB bar will take some getting used to and I hope it helps with something.  Actually, I was supposed to do highbar squats but I couldn't wait until Friday to play with the bar.

This week's sessions will stay super light but use the same lifts as scheduled.  I really liked what my programming did for me last cycle so I'm sticking with it with slight changes due to it really being my "offseason" and I do want to lean out a little bit more.

^^^good stuff!
You looked like a jack-in-the-box the way you were popping up on the box squats. Quite impressive the power off the box!

Thanks Eric.  It wasn't really much weight, but I felt the those reps.  My abs are sore so I guess when they say SSB squats work your core, they are right.  My quads, hamstrings, and glutes are sore which was expected.  Just mild DOMS so I'll be good to go for another light day on Friday.

Today was a light bench day.  I worked up to 3x5@185 for bench, 3x8@135 for CGBP, 3x8@75 for OHP, and 3x5 pullups.  The pullups felt pretty damn good with no shoulder or bicep tendon aches and pains.  I know I keep saying this, but I need to work pullups every day if possible.  Just a few throughout the day.

Tomorrow off, then light deadlift/squat accessory day on Friday.  More SSB box squats!

I am.  Still going to take time to get used to.  I'm trying to figure out how the hell Dave Tate was able to rep out 4pps and do drop sets with minimal breaks.  Oh that's right, he's a helluva lot stronger than I am.   :o

So…yeah no doubt he's strong a all get out but two things I noticed, and they are completely unrelated.
One, it looks like he's using a rather tall box. Didn't look parallel. Maybe it was the camera angle. Believe me I'm not taking anything from the guy, and maybe a higher seat is part of his training.
The second thing I noticed was wraps on his thighs? Is that like the occlusion (or whatever it is like ID was doing) training?

I noticed in a lot of his other videos he does the same thing but only ever on his left leg. Injury?  For the height I believe he competed equipped and the usually don't go as low. I've considered raising mine to be more inline for deadlift help and overload more. His ROM is about 8" and even though hitting parallel it feels like my ROM is small.

He's got a red wrap on his left thigh, which is easy to view. On his right he has a black or dark blue wrap. Not as noticeable but I reviewed it again after the end when it showed him walking off and something hanging from his right leg. Was a dark colored wrap.
Can't figure out why though. I mean from what Flex posted and ID confirmed it's more for lower weight and forcing blood to stay in one area.
The fact he can do this with 4 plates  :o mind boggling!

Did you read the story for the video on Youtube?

"...Dave Tate is beginning to get jacked up for his next set. John walks over and places his hand on Dave's shoulder and says to bring it down a notch because there are still 4 more sets of 8 to go. Without pulling off his headphones and after hitting his ammonia bottle Dave says...
So I have to do 32 reps! What you see in this video is what Dave did next. He may not be the best listener in the world but knows how to best ass in the gym."

I think it'll be a long while before I get up to 4 plates.  The 200 I did i don't think I'd get more than 10.  The bar I have is supposed to be 62lbs so the weight he was handling was 422.

Give me 5 years, a trip back to my late 20's, lots of gym time and I might, might I say, hit 3 and 3 quarters of plates…..lol
In all seriousness though, as long as my joints are happy I'll keeping pushing until I can't.

I'm not going to have much time this week.  The wife is on another business trip until Friday night so I'm playing the single dad role until then.  I only had an hour to do some work and thought of just skipping it.  However, not knowing when my next training session would be, I stepped up and did what I could.

Lowbar Squats
   45 x 2 x 10
   95 x 5
   135 x 5
   185 x 5
   225 x 3
   275 x 1
   315 x 1

   315 x 5
   275 x 3 x 5

Sumo Deadlift trying these again instead of the normal banded deadlifts.
   135 x 2 x 5
   185 x 5
   225 x 5
   275 x 1

   275 x 3 x 5

Sumo set

Decided to take a picture of the squat goal for this year.  I'll take the other three as I start hitting them.

In this crew lately. I bet it felt good just to move something. I know it felt hella good for me.
