yeah i have issues like that sometimes - it wouldn't bother me if just my wife found me

why would you drop it? Why not get Dumbells if that's an issue?

I probably would not but i read to many horror stories and get freaked out a big sometimes. 

I should probably just adjust my safeties but when they are in a good safe spot i sometimes will hit them with one side or the other (when i get a little off level)  and it fucks me up.

Dude you need to get some fails under your belt. If you're scared of heavy weights your not gonna make any progress.
