Really? ??? It's kind of like ketchup for adults to me.
Got a weird zing, can't really put my finger on it. I don't like sweet/sour and 57 and a host of other sauces try to pull it off.
Sauce/marinade should be one of these:
Sweet and smoky
Sour and oily
hot and buttery
These are the combinations that work for me
-
Don't like tamarind and vinegar? :)
I thought ketchup for adults was called ketchup. u_u
Today's lunch is a protein shake, two strawberries, and a small handful-ish of almonds.
Cutting sucks.

This is a staple in my diet!
-
I don't know how you all eat the same thing over and over. I've tried it and failed. I start gagging if I have to eat something more than 3-4 times in a row. Seriously feel like I'm going to puke.
-
I just think of food during the day as fuel for my workouts. Dinner is a lot more enjoyable though.

I guess I'm in oddball in that I like the repetitiveness. If I like something, I'll eat it over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over... (well you get the idea :P )

I used to be this way with left overs, once my diet changed to work with my goals I started looking at things completely different........I now can eat very similar things over and over and ect. to help achieve the final goal

Celebration lunch for my daughter (she won two ribbons showing her horse at the county fair). We let her pick and she chose Chinese buffet. I feel gross already but I'm so proud of her I don't care.

In search of a new place I recently tried Union Burger... all I gotta say is, that place is fucking awesome. You guys ever have it?
Kinda wish I didn't try it, because I won't be eating fast food for a longggg time.

I eat 2 burgers erry day. 12 burgers are like 12 bucks. That's $2/day for lunch. Maybe $2.02 if you include the cost of the mustard. (I don't buy brand name mustard).

chicken breast, cup of black beans, huge chef salad with ranch/lite ranch mixed

Rich people and their fancy preformed patties, I have to form my ground meat into poorly shaped wonky burgers!
As for cheap protein, try halved pig heads, I can get them for like $5 NZ and they have a couple kg of meat on them not to mention all the delicious crackle!
Also pig jowls make fantastic bacon.
Also I hear eating an animals face is highly anabolic! ;)

I fucking hate handling raw ground beef and making patties. And Lisa does enough food prep for me so I'm not asking her to do it.
So I will trade half my man card for pre-formed patties. LOL. 8)
Guy Fieri says pig jowls are awesome. Saw it on a show a couple weeks ago. They looked gross to me.

Honey Sesame Chicken:
Ingredients:
2 large Chicken breasts (boneless, skinless)
1/4 cup Tomato sauce (plain)
1/2 cup Soy sauce
1/2 cup Honey
1/4 cup Brown sugar
1 tsp crushed Red Pepper
2 tsp Sesame Oil
1 medium Onion
3 cloves Garlic
1 tbsp Canola/Vegetable oil
1/2 cup Water
1 tbsp Cornstarch + 3 tbsp water
3 Green onions
1 tbsp sesame seeds
Method:
- In a mixing bowl, combine together the tomato sauce, soy sauce, honey, crushed red pepper, sesame oil and brown sugar. Make sure brown sugar is completely dissolved and everything is mixed well. Set it aside for later.
- Finely dice the onion and mince the garlic cloves.
- In a heavy bottom pan heat a tablespoon of vegetable/canola oil. Add the diced onion and sautee it for a couple minutes until it turns soft and translucent.
- Once the onions soften, add the minced garlic and sautee for another minute or two.
- Then place the whole chicken breasts in the pot and pour the sauce over the top.
- Add about 1/2 a cup of water and bring the liquid to gentle simmer.
- Put the lid on and let the chicken cook for about an hour. Halfway through the cooking process, turn the chicken breasts over so they cook evenly on both sides.
- While the chicken is cooking, roughly slice the green onions and toast the sesame seeds until they turn a light golden color and set them aside for the garnish.
- Once the chicken is cooked, pull them out of the sauce and set them on a plate to cool. Turn the heat up and bring the sauce to a boil.
- Mix together the cornstarch with a some water and dissolve it. Pour it into the sauce and stir until it thickens into a syrupy consistency. Turn the heat down again.
- Shred the chicken breasts into bite size pieces using a couple of forks. Then add the chicken back into the sauce and let it cook until it reaches your desired consistency.
- Garnish it with the toasted sesame and green onions.

No mayo or anything like that.

I'm wrong, it does contain mayo or Miracle Whip but not much.
12 eggs
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard powder
1 teaspoon vinegar
1 teaspoon sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
dash of pepper
Mix the last five ingredients together and add enough mayo or MW to make creamy mixture. Mash the hard boiled yolks (after they've cooled down) and then stir them into the seasoning mixture. Spoon mixture into the hard boiled white halves.

The East Coast grill does a couple of appetizers like that on Hell Night. I've seen deviled eggs and meatballs. They make one for everybody at the table. All of them are a little spicy, but one of them is killer, and they all look they same.

I might have posted this already. Sorry if I did.
Just put a big purple pot full of beef stew in the oven. I doubled this recipe:
Ingredients
•2 Pounds Beef, round steak, stew meat, or tenderloin
•6 Small Potatoes (sweet potatoes are fine too), peeled -
•1 Yellow Onion, peeled and chopped
•3 Carrots, peeled and sliced
•3 Stalks Celery, chopped
•2 Tablespoons Cornstarch
•1 14.5oz Can Crushed Tomatoes
•1 13 oz Can Tomato Sauce
•1-2 Cups Low-Sodium Beef Stock
•2 cups Whole Green Beans (thawed, I use frozen)
•Salt and Pepper to Taste
Instructions
1.Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
2.Add beef chunks to a large glass baking dish, preferably around 9×13-inches. Season the beef with salt, pepper, and corn starch. Toss to evenly coat. I actually do this in a ziplock bag and add to the dish after tossing in the bag.
3.Add the potatoes, carrots, celery, and onions to the dish. Arrange in one even layer as best you can.
4.Pour in the canned tomatoes, tomato sauce, and beef stock. Only use enough beef stock to cover the beef and vegetables.
5.Cover the dish with foil and bake in the oven for three hours.
6.After three hours, remove the dish from the oven, remove the foil, and add the green beans. Place the dish back in the oven for another thirty minutes.
7.Let the stew cool for ten minutes at least before serving.
Serves 4-6

The worst part is they do payroll deduct for you so most people don't see that they're spending that kind of cabbage until payday.

The worst part is they do payroll deduct for you so most people don't see that they're spending that kind of cabbage until payday.
That reminds me of the old lunch trucks that used to come by work; they sold smokes and newspapers and food.
They'd run a tab for you and everyone had to pay up on payday. Some dudes would end up having to give a ridiculous portion of their paycheque to the lunch truck.
One place I worked it came by 3 times a day; it adds up...
I've always brought my own lunch. Not as frugal as bando, but it just makes sense.
-
Six ounces of leftover steak, a cup of broccoli with a TBSP of butter, almonds, and sunflower seeds.
-
Lunch is a homemade protein bar. ( second time making these now )
Breakfast was 3.5 hrs ago though and that was 4 scrambled eggs, 3 pieces of low sodium bacon, 4 oz of grated cheese and a homemade waffle.
We are getting snow again so I stayed home from work and slept in. Awesome 4 day weekend for me. :)

That looks good!
This morning I went to pack my lunch, and the sliced turkey I was planning to eat for the next few days smelled to high heaven, so it went in the trash. I had no other leftover meat or chicken in the fridge, so today's lunch is a peanut butter sandwich. 4 TB of pb on whole grain "sandwich thin" bread, 1 cup of cottage cheese, a hard boiled egg, and celery and carrot sticks with ranch dressing. Gotta stop at the grocery store on the way home this evening.
-
Peanut butter sandwich???
That is not lunch. That is a snack. LOL!

Lunch for the week:

I know, pretty bad. Like I said, I gotta go grocery shopping. I was out enjoying the 60 degree weather yesterday instead of prepping my lunches for the week. Now today it's 8 degrees outside, so I didn't want to go out for lunch. :'(

Enjoying one of Lola's favorites for lunch today! Ground beef!
Made some over the weekend to grab and go with for a couple of days. Worked great this AM as I ran out the door.

Traveling today, I ate some food that I brought from home and heated up in the hotel microwave. It was a bowl of bolognese sauce (a slow simmered meat sauce) that I made from scratch Saturday night. Of course we had it over pasta at home, but it was so good that I brought the leftovers with me and ate it like a bowl of chili.
Seriously the best meat sauce I've had, though I imagine it would be even better with a mixture of ground beef, pork, and veal instead of just beef. I used San Marzano canned tomatoes, and added some minced celery along with the carrots. I let it simmer for 2 hours.

My lunches are boring. Weight watchers chicken Santa Fe and a pouch of yellow fin tuna in olive oil. Let's me scarf 900-1000 cals at night depending if I snack on almonds.
Six more weeks on deficit.

I love Bolognese sauce and can easily eat it like chili! (With a little fresh bread is awesome too!)
I really like the San Marzano tomatoes, but goodness they are expensive here - over $5 a can or jar. But I was watching Lidia Bastianich (I love her!!), and she grows her own in her garden in Pennsylvania. I am on a mission to find seeds, because they are wonderful tomatoes.

Everyday: 2x PBJ (Teddy's no salt cruncy and some no sugar jam stuff) < 1 pre lunch & 1 post lunch...
This changes though.. hah.. 1.5 chick breasts(all i had left.../sigh), few scoops of home made smashed potatoes... for actual "lunch"...
This sort of spread out over 3-4 hours(ish)... work doesn't allow for me to really schedule a luncheon... more of eat at the desk, what you can when you can.

5oz of grilled chicken breast and a banana

Made my lunch for the week. It smells good! A half-cup of chopped green olives keeps the sodium content low and adds a healthy dose of monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs), which have been proven to help fight belly fat.
Prep: 10 min
Cook: 11 min
Total: 21 min
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon crushed red-pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon ground chipotle chiles - NOTE: I skipped these and used 1 tsp of red-pepper flakes instead of a half
1/2 cup pitted green olives, roughly chopped
1 can (14 1/2 ounces) diced tomatoes
salt
1/2 pound medium shell pasta
1/3 cup chopped fresh basil
1/4 cup chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Directions:
1. In a large, heavy skillet over medium heat, warm the oil. Add the garlic, crushed red pepper, and chipotle chiles. Cook, stirring, for 30 seconds, or until fragrant. Stir in the olives and tomatoes (with their juice). Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer, uncovered, for about 10 minutes, or until lightly thickened. Season to taste with salt.
2. Meanwhile, cook the pasta according to the package directions. Drain and transfer to the skillet. Add the basil, parsley, and lemon juice, and toss to mix well.
This gave 4 servings about 1.5 cups each.

Just an update - that turkey chili is awesome. I'll be bringing that time and time again.

I actually ate it for lunch for 3 years.
Every day. My boss complained about the smell every time, then she retired.
Then she broke her hip, she should have been getting jacked up on my chili

Every other day lunch is cafeteria food, and the left over days are fast food. I try to eat as healthy as you can possibly eat at either place lol
-
today will be left over chili. I make mine half turkey half beef. One of the only foods that really seem to fill me up
-
I have leftover grilled pork chops from Saturday, not gonna risk eating them though :-[
-
Why don't you want to eat them, Bando? If they've been refrigerated all this time, I'd eat them (unless they were cooked rare, but not many people eat rate pork anyway).
-
I just feel like that was a day or 2 longer than I should have kept them around, off the next 3 days and don't wanna be sick
-
I just feel like that was a day or 2 longer than I should have kept them around, off the next 3 days and don't wanna be sick
This is why I package up all my leftovers in lunch size portions and freeze them. Then they are good for months, and once you get a few different things frozen, you have you choice of lunches, not just what you ate for dinner the night before.
Plus, the kids can't be bothered to heat frozen leftovers, so they don't mysteriously disappear from the fridge.
Today's lunch was some yummy enchiladas that we made for dinner on Monday night!
-
Left my London Broil filets I grilled for my lunch today at home this morning >:(
$10 bet they will be gone this afternoon when my husbands gets home! I will kick his ass!

Having poked about through all my recipes this morning, I think I will take the turkey chili again. It really has the biggest bang for my caloric buck - 29g protein at ~230 cals. Plus, it was delicious. I may keep eating that for lunch for some time - until I'm tired of it and need a change.

After a very productive morning, thanks to DS's deer thread, I whipped up a batch of chili. Not venison, but it still hit the spot after cleaning leaves out of the yard for the last time of the year (again ). Errands completed, outside work done, lunch consumed, now for a little one-on-one time with some weights in the basement.
Then my favorite post WO- :beerchug:

I was doing an audit for a place down the road. They are a premier bio-research facility that has a huge endowment. Their café has 4 stations for food; pasta bar, sandwich bar, sizzling grill and main entrée bar. All the bars are staffed by professional chefs. Big salad bar down the middle and a dessert island off to one side. This place has some seriously good food for their staff. Plus its subsidized. If I paid for that meal it would be under $8.

I had a chicken teriyaki and rice bowl with some protein bar.
Just realized that protein bars aren't exactly tasty.

This week I have my favorite lunch to bring to work: Chili. This time I made it with 1.5 lb of ground turkey and 1 lb of lean ground beef. I use lots of veg in my chili; onion, celery, 2 or 3 kinds of peppers, lots of tomato, even carrots if I have them on hand. And of course beans. So I get my daily veg and fiber along with the protein.

Lunch for this week: Homemade chicken soup/stew.

Protein shake and some almonds :(
Yea, dude, I had some of that action today as well.. mwuahaha... double scoop shake at wake up, another just now with some oats (leg night tonight, gotta get that fuel ready).. and a small handfull of almonds ( I have to be careful with Cashews and Almonds... as I generally demolish them )
I just lost 20lbs since Nov. It's time to get my eat back on... and do it with a bit more sanity checking :) Goal being smaller cuts of a few lbs at a time, not wanting to have to do this 20lb cut thing again.. blah.. goes quick.. easy to do.. but a pia.

I made some lasagna rollups for my lunches. I found these great foil pans with lids at the grocery store. Each little pan holds 2 lasagna rolls and a bit of sauce. Perfect! I should have had 10 lunches, but I was sloppy with the lasagna noodles and ripped some coming out of the pot. But I did get 8 pans - I had one today and I now have 7 in the freezer. You can bake them from frozen, 45 minutes at 350F.
Ingredients
◾20 whole Lasagna Noodles
◾ Sauce:
◾2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
◾1 whole Medium Onion, Diced
◾3 cloves Garlic, Minced
◾1-1/2 pound Ground Beef
◾1/2 pound Italian Sausage
◾28 ounces, weight Canned Diced Tomatoes
◾8 ounces, weight Tomato Paste
◾1 teaspoon Salt
◾1 teaspoon Black Pepper
◾3 Tablespoons Minced Fresh Parsley
◾3 Tablespoons Minced Fresh Basil
◾ Filling
◾30 ounces, weight Ricotta Cheese
◾2 whole Eggs
◾3/4 cups Grated Parmesan Cheese
◾1/2 teaspoon Salt
◾1/2 teaspoon Pepper
◾1 Tablespoon Parsley, Minced
◾1 Tablespoon Basil, Minced
◾1 pound Mozzarella, Grated
Preparation Instructions
Boil lasagna noodles until al dente. Drain and lay flat on a sheet of foil.
In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add onions and garlic and cook for a couple of minutes. Add the ground beef and sausage and stir it around, cooking it until totally browned. Drain excess fat, then add diced tomatoes, tomato paste, salt, pepper, parsley, and basil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
Make the filling by combining ricotta, eggs, Parmesan, salt, pepper, parsley, and basil. Stir to combine.
To assemble, spoon a little sauce into the bottom of a 9 x 13 inch pan OR smaller disposable foil loaf pans. Spread 2-3 tablespoons ricotta filling on each noodle, then roll them up. Lay them sideways in the pans (4 will fit in the loaf pans, or you can fill a 9 x 13 inch pan with the rollups.) Top with remaining sauce, plenty of grated mozzarella, and grated Parmesan.
If baking immediately, bake at 375 for 20 minutes or until hot and bubbly.
If baking from a frozen state, bake, covered in foil, at 350 for 45 minutes, then remove the foil and continue baking for 15 minutes, or until lasagna is done.

Should have taken a picture of today's lunch.
There's a local chain in KC called T. Loft, a place that serves a variety of expensive iced teas, and what they call Clean Eats. There's one across the street from my office. They used to just have a small offering of pre-made vegetarian salads with quinoa and such, but they recently started cooking food to order. Today I had a Buffalo Scramble: 3 eggs, about 3 or 4 oz. of diced chicken, diced red bell pepper, and diced sweet potato, stir fried together (everything was pre-cooked except the eggs) and served in a bowl with a drizzle of a light buffalo sauce. 47 grams of protein.
I've also had their quinoa bowls and brown rice bowls with chicken and a variety of veggies, but today's lunch was their highest protein offering. Somehow the seasonings, spices, and flavors in their dishes are just outstanding, unlike anything I've had elsewhere. Lucky to have them a few steps from my office.
Oh, and I got a peanut butter ball for dessert.

Took my team out for lunch to a tiny little place in town called Grill Daddy.
Had a burger and fries and now I need a nap.

I have been wanting to make chili the past couple of weeks but just can't make myself do it with temperatures in the high 90's and 100's :o

I'm with you on this. I only make chili from fall to spring. Spicy, warm food when it's 90 degrees out is no bueno

50g is high? :o
In one meal YES! I only eat like that on workout days. On non days it is about 25g
I have been eating like this since jan 1 . My low days are about 150g. My high days are probably 200-250ish
Yep....eating like a girl :).
-
Gotcha. I am going to try carb cycling after the meet. I don't want to do a hard cut even though it's probably needed.
-
2lbs ground lean turkey.
1 cup jasmine rice.

Looks tasty.

Lunches this week are homemade soup that I'm already looking forward to eating today. It's very dense with lots of good stuff:
Chicken soup made with a box of organic chicken broth, shredded chicken breast, 1 onion, 3 carrots, 2 celery stalks, 1 pasilla pepper, 1 potato (only one small yellow potato diced up), 1 can fire roasted diced tomatoes. Seasoned with chili powder, cumin and cilantro for a Mexican flavor. My spouse was grilling some brats on Sunday, so I diced up one of those and threw it in at the very end.
-
Sounds good Toby. Let us know how it is.
-
yep sounds good except for the organic part.
I had a cream of brocolli soup with chicken whilst I was travelling, was pretty damn good.
Chili today

Eh, the organic broth was on sale at Costco. Usually I buy Kitchen Basics broth or stock with no salt added. It's by far the best and lowest-sodium broth I've found, but not organic. Never buy Swanson. Read the ingredients. I love soup, but rarely have it while traveling. In restaurants it's generally loaded with sodium, even when it's house-made. I have high blood pressure, so that's a no-no.
Eric, my homemade soup was awesome! This was the third day in a row having it for lunch. I have just enough left for tomorrow.

You can't beat that. That's why I love cooking in the crockpot.

preworkout meal / lunch today:
1 cup of oats with some stevia

clean bulking is whack: I want some beef brisket n mac n cheese.....

Had a surprisingly hearty lunch today from my new favorite local lunch spot in KC called T.Loft. It was their "Grecian Lentil Bowl": lentils, diced chicken, red peppers, cucumbers, garlic, tomatoes, goat cheese, with lemon vinaigrette. 468 Cal, 44g Protein, 54g Carb. I had planned to take a picture, but then I got the bowl and saw that it was not visually attractive with all those lentils. Oh, also peanut butter ball, and a glass of milk.

catered BBQ Chicken, salad, salt potatoes, cornbread. "Sorry no seconds" ::)
what is this, a lunch for ANTS???
-
Early lunch breakfast style.
Bacon egg and cheese on everything bagel and then finished off by eating half my bosses breakfast, home fries, bacon and rye toast. Mmmmmm ;D

If you can find the Carroll Shelby's Chili mix, it is good stuff.

If you leave out the cayenne pepper packet, it's not too spicy, but still might be too much if you can't have spicy food.
My mom doesn't like spicy food, and it's a little bit much for her, even without the cayenne.

I love the taste of spicy food but my mouth does not like the burn, especially my tongue. I was born with something called fissured tongue, which is cracks all over my tongue. For some reason spicy stuff seems to really burn my tongue.

couple of leftover chili dogs
one meal that does not work for leftovers :-[
-
leftover scalloped taters and ham, one meal that does work good for leftovers
-
had some frozen goulash thawing. Mrs. B called and said she had no lunch. BRB bought a massive philly cheese steak sub and brought it down and split it with her
soooo.. tasty..
-
Bunch of new Pyrex glass leftover bowls. Food heats up more evenly, they are easy to clean and they get completely clean, you can go right from frozen to microwave with no issues.
Can't believe I used to use plastic.

I just had Rajma and almond flour flat bread for lunch. Rajma is like an East Indian vegetarian chili. I make 6 litres at a time, so I have enough for a week.

18 hours into a 24 hour fast and the person in the next cube is eating wings :'(
