Title: Rheta's Iron Maidens - September 28th
Post by: AlexanderOmand on August 26, 2019, 01:02:58 PM
s some of you know, Rheta is hosting her 3rd annual Iron-Maidens Meet on September 28th.  Sabrina is competing at it.  We are headed up on the 26th at night, She's weighing in on Friday, and She's competing Saturday morning.

Any and all are welcome to come watch.  There are going to be some impressive women competing.  Alison Hind is one of them, I believe.

I'm sure Allison and Becky will be there.  I follow them both in IG.  Allison benches more than me.   :'(

I'm down for a road trip.  Lemme talk to Lisa.

Even Bando has his limits.  I think he just went in and out of Rochester without stopping by my dump.  House.  I meant house.    ;)

Hey Bando, the bathroom is getting fixed next month, I swear!  So let me know next time you're in town  ;D ;D ;D

And I just wrote down the meet on my calendar, so I'll see if I can get out there, too.

Being debt free is nice and all but remember this,

Death takes no bribes.

So the take away to this should be, Bando....buy the luxury tent and put $10 in the tank rather than $8.

Just sayin'

Dunno yet.  Alex and Sabrina are leaving Saturday right after the comp, so we may do the same.

What's your plan?  I don't mind staying an extra night but not if it's just me and Lisa hanging out in a hotel room by ourselves....

Not sure, wife has online class 9:30 - 11:30 sat. and work 12-4, trying to figure that out

We're not certain yet, if we are leaving that night.

Sabrina booked the hotel for Friday and Saturday night, because she originally expected that the Meet was Sunday.
So, we're coming up early Friday, then relaxing and eating, and then competing on Saturday.  It's not a huge Meet, but Rheta doesn't run as efficiently as RPS does.  So, if it is late, we're staying Saturday night, and leaving at like 5am, as I have to work the store on Sunday.

I also suspect, that It'll depend on Sabrina, if she's in any condition to travel on Saturday night, or if she just wants to eat and relax after the Meet.

She hasn't announced the time as of yet, but I suspect 9am it'll start and with 45 lifters, wrap up by 330/4pm

So, unbeknownst to me, Sabrina did a little re-booking of hotels.
Apaprently, she decided to change the booking to a hotel that is cheaper and has a pool.

It's a little further from Blood Iron, but not by much.

I was planning on driving the Z06, which is a 2-seater.

I can easily drive the Charger if I gotta play taxi driver so let me know.

You guys staying over Saturday night?

Tryna decide if we should stay up by you guys or at the Hampton close to BIB; there's a Delmonico's and a Texas Roadhouse near there.  Up by where your hotel is there's not much in the way of restaurants...

No worries, we'll be making the trip in to eat at a good restaurant. probably the Delmonico's. Gotta make sure Sabrina eats good for this Meet. :)
Bando, if it's nearby our hotel, we can likely pick you up.  It may be stuffed into Sabrina's forester, but you're a little guy, you'll fit.

We haevn't decided about Saturday night.  I have to work on Sunday, so, even if we do, we'll be headed home at roughly 430am.  5 hours, and I have to be there at 10am.

I'll be there for the meet if I can, but no hotel stay.  Rochester is close enough I'd just drive in and out for the meet itself.  Still waiting to hear the actual closing date on my mom's house.  Unfortunately, things keep getting shuffled around so the date isn't set yet and I know they're going to spring something short term on me like "final walk through tomorrow, ok????". Trying to get everything cleared out, cleaned up and mowed ahead of time, but we'll see how it goes.

Normally I'd say no but for an event it should be fine. She'll have the lot behind the building available for parking as well.

Indeed. Figured I'd let everyone know, in case plans need to change.  In all honesty, I know you're driving 4 hours each way, plus a hotel, for a Meet that will be over by noon, at the latest.  If you all decide to change your mind, about the trip, I fully understand.

Sabrina is really disappointed, as she was hoping that she'd see 30-50 lifters.  She's sorted her openers (or 90% certain).  380/220/380.  Seconds look like 410/240/400.  With a goal of 425/250/420 - 1095ish.  Those numbers may fluctuate depending on the day.

Rheta is disappointed as well, but she will still give it her all.

I fully understand, which is why I brought it up.

I'm a bit disappointed as well, because I know how hard Sabrina trained for this, and the sacrifices I made so she could get to the gym.  I skipped training days, so that she could get there. This was supposed to be a big Meet, with some big names, and Sabrina was excited to stand shoulder to shoulder with them.

She hasn't said much, but I know she's disappointed as well.  So much hard work, and time she put into this.

Title: Re: Rheta's Iron Maidens - September 28th
Post by: FLEX on September 25, 2019, 09:57:48 AM
Very disappointing I am sure.

I hope to step on the platform with you in January.

Training has been a fucking roller-coaster for me lately. Lot of issues with my right hip.  Not sure if you know I had a condition as a kid and wore leg braces for 2 years.  They said I'd be walking with a cane by the time I hit 40. My signature lift is crap I haven't squatted more anything close to 5 plates in months.  So my next meet might be my last.  I hope not but my hip is fucked.
Title: Re: Rheta's Iron Maidens - September 28th
Post by: itsagoodday on September 25, 2019, 01:10:54 PM
Well, this thread got depressing.  Damn.  :'(

I'm probably stuck here still trying to wrap up stuff with my mom's house anyway.  We are 100% ready for the new buyers to close, or were ready... and then their lawyer decided he wanted to have boundary line agreements with the neighbors over the fencing.  My mom placed her 5' wood fence inside her own property lines, so that's not the issue.  It's more about the lawyer wanting some kind of guarantee that the neighbors won't "claim" the unused space??? So the neighbors are, at this point, either inconvenienced or genuinely pissed, and I don't blame them, because they're being asked to sign stupid legal documents.  And people are sending me over like "can you drive over to your mom's house and talk to this person or that person about the paperwork?", but not giving me enough information to answer the questions adequately, which makes everyone upset, including me.

Anyway.  Shitty week for everyone then.  But best of luck to Sabrina!  Rheta will run a great meet, it's a shame it couldn't have been bigger though!
