Title: Here we go again.
Post by: tooth on December 08, 2016, 04:12:01 PM
So, as some of you know the full meet I did two weeks ago was sort of a last minute ego trip to get a 500 squat at a meet this year.  Well, I had already signed up for a push pull meet that I had been training for, and that meet is this Sunday.  Yeah, I'm that kind of stupid.  I just booked the hotel, but I feel like I'm not even recovered from the meet I just did.

I've wanted to do this meet for a while now because it benefits the Shriners Hospitals.  Then I found out our very own Alex is running the meet, so it was a must.   8)

It will be fun quick meet, with some serious lifters. There's a 181 Lady that's looking to Raw Bench 300lbs and she's multi-ply Deadlifting and aiming for 500lbs.

We've had lifters dropping like flies from injuries.

31 lifters total, iirc.

Let me preface this by stating I have Masonic ties. All Shriners must be Masons and I can assure you that you're money will go where it was meant to go, helping children in need.
A noble cause that comes with great responsibility.
I encourage you to kick some butt in this event and not even think of skipping it.
Bad things can happen if one crosses a Mason.

Things like disembowelment, drawing and quartering, and there is of course that nasty thing we had to do to Jack the Ripper way back when.
But you might say "Fiend, Jack The Ripper was never found."
and to that I would answer...
exactly. ;)

So...with that information in mind, that you have essentially made a deal with the "Mafia of Good", I'm sure you will do the proper thing and fulfill your obligation.
Lives could very well depend on it...my friend.

(^^^ just for the lulz-best to you!)

Been a mason for 16 years.  I'm beat to shit, but I'm starting to look forward to the meet.

Good luck at the meet Tooth. I'm sure you'll kill it. Sounds like a worthwhile cause too.

330 bench 525 deadlift. Passed on my third deadlift attempt because I messed something up in my left quad on my second attempt. Still somehow managed best male lifter. The monster next to me in one of these pictures won best overall. I asked him if he was male, and it was the only time I saw him smile all day. Alex ran a great meet too.

It was a pr. Certainly didn't feel like it though. I've had to hold back on my bench because my butt comes up. I've gotten better at keeping my butt down, but when the weight gets heavy it still wants to pop up.  I've certainly got a bigger bench in me. Just need to move the weight properly so it counts.  The rps benches are really grippy. Helps allot to have nice equipment like that.

525/ 350 / 550 for 2017!

I love the RPS benches. I can stick onto it like a suckerfish and plant my feet flat, use my entire body to bench instead of my delts.

I've had to hold back on my bench because my butt comes up.

Just as an FYI: RPS is more lenient than most feds on that; as long as your thighs are in constant contact with the bench you will get the lift.

Tooth,
It was a fun Meet, and I'm glad you had a fun time.

It was easily, the fastest Meet I've run.  31 lifters, and even with an hour break (the RPS ambassador' choice not mine), we were wrapped by slightly after noon.

And some amazing lifts.  Still can't get over Katrina pulling a 500lb Deadlift at 178lbs and a raw bench of 285.  Now you know why she has the nickname Hurricane.

We raised over $4200 for Shriners.
