Alpha Bands
« on: November 11, 2015, 12:12:54 PM »
Was watching some random lifting vids on youtube and came across these:

I have some cheap Gold's Gym bands that I like to mess around with after doing my barbell/dumbbell stuff, but they aren't like these and I break/snap them all the time.  These thing looks pretty cool and durable.  But $60 plus S/H seems kind of crazy.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Bands have lots of applications; I highly recommend getting some.

I have a set of Rogue Monster bands that Lisa got me for Christmas a couple years ago.

Those Alpha ones have red only?  My set has 6 bands with 3 different tensions; green, black, purple.

Yeah, the cheap ones I have now are kind of like that.  http://www.walmart.com/ip/Gold-s-Gym-Long-Series-Resistance-Tube-Kit-with-DVD/12167849 .  But like I said, I break them all the time.  Probably on my 5th set.

I think with those Alpha Bands you just decrease/increase the slack to control the tension/resistance.  They are also like a huge rubberband (ends are connected) which is different.  I'm looking for durability more than anything.  You have a link to your Rogue bands?

Those ones you linked to look like garbage.

Here's the kind I have:

2 green, 2 black, 2 purple

I also have 2 each of red and green mini bands for stretching only but I forget where I got them.  EliteFTS I think.

Did you buy them all as a set/package or by pairs?

Lisa bought them for me so not sure but on the web site they have packages or you can just buy what you want.

IMHO you could buy 2 green and 2 black and be done with it.  The purple ones are crazy.

2 green and 2 black would cost roughly the same as just a couple of the Alpha Bands would, so that's probably the way to go.

Keep an eye out on EliteFTS's website.  They run specials a lot on their bands.  I have a bunch of them and use them often.

I pulled the trigger on 2 of the green and 2 of the black this morning.  Thanks again for the recommendation, Flex.  I also bought some Adidas squat shoes on the same order.

For sure.  Last X-mas I bought this on ID's recommendation.

Love the thing!  Use it pretty much daily for things like bench, rows, OHP, and curls!
