That's awesome.

Hey, I like what you've done with the place.

Yea, thanks guys. It's the basement, it works, and I the backdrop was a pretty epic little gift from Alex.

Still more work to do down here, but Alex sent me a little motivational artwork to add into the gym !
Awesome. Glad it fits in well there.

I was originally going to ship it somewhere else, and it didn't dawn on me until a day after the Meet, that it should go with Trev for his gym.  I'm still kicking myself for not cutting it down and handing it to you right at the Meet.

Looks awesome and very fitting place to hang it.

The home gym thing has it's definite advantages, and disadvantages.  I've been doing the basement thing for a few years now.  I have a smith machine thing that doesn't get used much, but picked up a rogue power rack a couple years ago. The quality of the rogue stuff is A+, but you pay for it.  I got the shorty due to basement height.  Also got the dip, and reverse hyper attachments.  If anyone is considering their reverse hyper attachment let me know as I've found a way to get it on and off the rack with one person (using a small dirt bike jack).  I also have their overpriced squat "box", plyo box(that doesn't get used much), their bench (it's A+ and very versitile), and a bunch of other junk.  I picked up a cheapo ghd can't remember the make.  A couple beater bars, Texas power bar, okie deadlift bar, and piles of iron.

The only things I couldn't do without are the quality power rack, bench, and decent bars.  Cheap olly dumbells are also very useful.  I'm pretty handy, but can't justify making a deadlift platform.  Spend the money where it counts, get the other stuff over time.

The platform is easy enough to build... still looking for dumbells.

Rogue stuff is very pricey, hence being really picky as to what I bought from them. Bench and BB....

Anyhow, it's going great...  need dumbbells though... badly.. heh.

I'm with you on the dumbbells, I've been all over CL looking any I can find. Sometimes it's better to buy them new. Right now, I've collected a decent amount of standard plates and the plan is to make fixed DB, but those handles are pricey too. It's almost lose/lose.

I'm still kicking myself for selling my dumbbells.  I had 10-75# and sold them with my bench and 300# of Oly weights for $400 when I thought I was done training 10 years ago.  I held onto them for years thinking I'd come back.  Now I wish I held on longer.

Dude, BLK, that sucks!! IF nothing else they would have increased in value from what I've seen on the second hand market!

Oly dumbell handels are your best bet.  They are cheap, then you just need a bunch of 10's, 5's, and 2.5's to make whatever weight you want.  I have a rack that I bought with adjustable ones, but they only go to 55.  The little oly bars let you go as high as you want.

The oly dumbells kinda suck and become unwieldy when you approach a hundo and over though.

I agree with Stile. They are a pain to deal with, plus they seriously slow down the workout pace. I have some and after 5-6 weeks I was ready to throw them away.

I considered these but never purchased them. Not a big fan really.. variety of reasons.

Got my inclined bench in recently, that's pretty much the rest of it for now

Finally got me some dumbbells last weekend. Drove friggin 3 hours each way.. UGH!

Decent price though...

10s-50s + a rack.. Good starter for arms and some shoulders etc.. etc..

Now I can buy the one off 75s.. 85s...100s..+

I've been scouring Craigslist for some time....  so, no as bad as it could have been.

Image attached -- does not include deadlift platform (standing on it)

Coming together quite nicely...
