Obviously, you've spent more time staring at Mrs. Bando than looking at some of the women on the platform...

Silly women.  They should probably compete in something that is judged 100% on their performance then.

Oh wait...

I think there is an (incorrect) assumption that all the pitbulls will be euthanized once they become illegal and that is not the case.

Of course not.

Nobody has euthanized Blue.  He's even the mascot of an OHL team.

I am not on either side of the argument, (and have owned large dogs myself such as a bull mastiff).   But hard to argue that  a dog that makes up aprox 6% of the population is involved in 60 to as much as 80% (depending on source) of mauling and a majority of dog related fatalities.

I know there are plenty of great ones out there, but I know I am uneasy any time I see one I dont know.   Kids are especially vulnerable.   It is a little different then having an unstable poodle.

Tough call.....  But there is a sub culture that has bred these dogs to be more and more violent.   They were not bread to heard sheep, that is for sure.

I'd be surprised if they were only 6% of the pop.  Seems like 75% of the dogs I see are pit mixes.   If you ever check an animal shelter, pretty much all the dogs in there are some sort of pit.

Part of the problem when people think it is "cool" to have a certain type of animal.   I feel bad for the animals as many are not cared for.

That said.  I will never understand how some zealot animal advocates will do so much for dogs when there are plenty of people and especially children in need.  I do feel bad for the animals, but their plight does not even register on my radar compared to the need I know is out there everyday, especially for young kids.   Everyone is free to do what they want....but I know some dog people who are so far over the top, they place them above human needs.

Yep....me neither.   Not in any way.   I am very torn.   I am usually of the mindset that nothing should be "banned" and let people suffer from their own decisions.

It is hard though, as dogs are a dynamic thing.   Not like a gun.   A gun cant shoot it self.  But just like I dont think it would be wise to live next door to a person who had a Bengal tiger or wolf, the way pits have been bread certainly does have some aggressive aspects.  (sometimes turning without notice).   It is a real tough one as it is people who have created this problem.

Like I said, I cant even believe I am expressing ideas like this as I am for as little "regulation" of things as possible.    But thinking about this one can be tough.   Again, I am not against the breed.   I am against the type of owners that dont respect the responsibility of having such a dog.   When I see a little kid get killed, it makes me sick.  Again, I usually see things as black and white, but I am torn on this which is unusual for me.

Completely agree ID.  It's a tough subject, I'm an animal lover and have 2 dogs (English bully and a mix...both fixed bc why contribute to the problem)  I've owned pits and know they can be great pets, however, I've seen some really nasty ones to.  My uncle (who is close to 70, just lost his beloved dauschund bc he was attacked by a loose pitbull.  He was walking his dog, on a leash, when they were both attacked, unfortunately his dog died, it was heart breaking, especially for him since he has no family and that dog meant everything to him.  Anyways, as you said, there are much bigger issues in this world to worry about.

We can go off on a tangent "aboot" politics and laissez-faire governments and the rest of that stuff but...
this is Canada.
We are way more socialist than our American cousins would like and we generally like it that way, it works for us.

If you don't like a country's or a corporation's rules, do business elsewhere. Simple imo.

I don't think a PL'ing platform, a bb'ing stage, nor a football field is the right place to start making political statements, nonetheless if its not even your frikkin' country.

I don't boycott Walmart because of American gun laws.

If I refused to go to the States because of some American law I don't agree with 99.9% of Americans would tell me to fuck off and stay in my own country.
Vice versa. ;)

In my own utopian lifting world I don't give a fuck what race, creed, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or whatever else you are as long as you lift.
That transcends borders and all I've mentioned the sentence previous to this.
Familia.

If you don't like it, don't go. Don't be bitching about the stupid shit our government does when your own backyard ain't in order.
