Strip The Rack Press
« on: February 19, 2016, 10:32:29 AM »
https://www.t-nation.com/training/tip-do-the-strip-the-rack-press

I started doing these about a month, month and a half ago... along with working on more reps vs. high end single and triples for benching.

Shoulder feels awesome, no soreness at all.

I mentioned this in another thread as well, arching for bench helped a bit too. However, I always had a 'soreness' to my right anterior delt. I couldn't dial it in to a specific exercise as the cause.. not enough to stop me from being able to bench, but my shoulder barked at me.

Shoulder feels really good recently.

Anyhow, that said, I am enjoying ripping the paint off of my brand new squat rack as well :P

Results are good thus far as well. Replacing seated military with these for a few months, that is the plan.

Pretty much a smith machine press without the smith machine, IMHO.

LOL!

No throwing.  No bus.

It's a great way to mimmick the movement of a SM without investing in one.

I done my share of shoulder presses in the SM.

Not if you're pushing the bar into the cage to cause the scrap.
From the article (and a bit of thinking) you're not only pushing up but also applying force away. With the smith machine you're only pushing up.
I guess you could apply force to push away but I don't think it would work all that well.

I never did them before, but Josh had them in my programming last month.  I thought they where a great exercise.  Unless your trying to tip over the smith machine, which flex may very well do, they are nothing like a smith machine press.

You know Trev; if I actually had any feelings that comment might have just hurt one of them.

I've been dealing with a shoulder problem so I'm going to try these for the hell of it.  I'll report back this week!  8)
