Thanks guys. Stronglifts moves fast so that's what I'm hoping for. Quick but steady improvement. Didn't happen today though. Squats and rows were good but I jumped in too high on bench. I can't believe I've lost so much in such a short time. I barely finished 185 last bench day but tried 190 anyways. Got the first 5 but there was now way I was getting much more let alone all 5 sets. Jumped back down to 145 :'(. I guess I'll work from there.  On the up side I supersetted my dips with hanging leg raises and actually did leg raises. Abs are recovering from the first few workouts. I switched leg raises and rollouts so that I wouldn't do 2 hanging exercises back to back. For some reason just hanging there is murder on my shoulders.

stronglifts day 3

warm ups

squats
145 x 5 x 5

bench

190 x 5
145 x 4 x 5

pendalay rows

140 x 5 x 5

dips ss w/ hanging leg raises

bw x 5 x 10
bw x 3 x 10

thats it. Things are moving in the right direction for the most part. Had a look back at my journal and the weights I was doing look insanely heavy right now. Hard to believe I was moving it at all.

Oh man Rich I hear ya loud and clear.  I was thrilled today to get 25 reps in with 225. A month ago 225 nearly pinned me on rep 2.  Doesn't take long to fall apart but also doesn't take that long to get rolling again.  You'll be back where you were and beyond in no time.

Are you planning on competing again in April?

Thanks Dave. I'm planning on competing again just not sure when. I'm glad my first comp had so many people from IS there. I don't think I would ever have jumped in the ring without the support.

Thanks Shawn. Lots of room for progress. I'm not planning on doing the deloads. Once I reach failure I'll switch to something else. See where this takes me.

2 sessions to report on. Everything is feeling pretty good now that I have a few workouts in the books.

sept 13

stronglifts day 4

warm ups

squat

150 x 5 x 5

ohp

74 x 5 x 5

sumo deads

285 x 1 x 5

pull ups ss w/ ab rollouts

bw x 7 x 5

10 x 3

abs were feeling fine till I tried rollouts. I got the reps but holy crap they hurt. I couldn't get the full extension but managed pretty close.

Todays workout

stronglifts day 5

warm ups

squat

155 x 5 x 5

bench

all paused
150 x 5 x 5

pendalay rows
145 x 5 x 5

dips ss w / hanging leg raises

bw x 5 x 10

3 x 10

everything today went really well. Although it's light the squats feel good. The movement feels smooth and balanced. Bench is feeling better but something still feels off in my form.

ohp

74 x 5 x 5

Nice thing about SL5x5 is that if you already have a solid base the strength comes back relatively quick.
Gotta ask though, is the OHP really 74 or did you mean 75?

Bench 305 pr
OHP 165 pr
Squat 315 pr
Deadlift 385 pr

Thanks Shawn. Another good day today. Everything felt good. Ab rollouts still sucked today but were better than last time. I've come to the conclusion that I like a straight bar for pull ups vs the wrist friendly angled bar. I can't  explain why but it just feels better.

Stronglifts day 6

warm ups

squats

160 x 5 x 5

OHP

80 x 5 x 5

sumo deads

295 x 1 x 5

pull ups ss w/ ab rollouts

bw x 5 x 7

bw x 3 x 10

that's it.

Great job Rich! I did ab rollouts all summer long 2x a week. They are tough as hell.

Thanks guys. Ab rolls certainly suck right now but are getting better.

Reasonable day today. Wasn't sure how things were going to go. Was falling asleep before the gym. Things improved once I got in there.
Squats were fine. Bench felt better every set. All paused again. I think I'll need more warm up sets. I really feel my middle delts on the first set. They hurt and it feels like a lack of strength. Not sure what the hell is going on. everything else felt ok.

SL day 7

warm ups

squat

165 x 5 x 5

bench

155 x 5 x 5

pendalay rows

150 x 5 x 5

dips ss w/ hanging leg raises

bw x 5 x 10

bw x 3 x 10

that's it
