Diesels journy to strongman
« on: April 24, 2013, 01:59:46 PM »
Figured I'd get a journal going here.
So here was todays session:
All weights are just plates not the bar and in lbs
Deadlifts:
4x4x245
1x2x280
1x2x300 (new pr)
1x10x245

Over head db press
3x50
2x3x60

Incline db flies
1x50
2x50

Reverse flies
3x5x45

Db overhead extension
3x5x70

Db rows
1x3x85
1x3x90
1x3x95

Shoulder shrugs
3x5x90 with 3 second pause each shrug.

Thanks for lookin in and any input greatly appreciated.

Todays entery

Deadlifts
4x4x245
1x2x280
1x2x305 (another pr gotta keep pushing)
1x8x245

Oh db press
1x3x50
2x3x60

Incline db press
1x3x60
2x3x65

One hand rope pull on calbe machine
1x5x120
1x10x130
1x15x140

Lat raises
3x5x30

Skull crushers
1x5x55
2x5x60

Preachers curls
2x20x30

Felt real good today and the deadlifts are begining to kick my ass and affect the rest of the lifts.
Not bad but know I could do better. One more week then a deload.
I'm happy with the progress I've been making and hope to hit a 400lb dl by the end of May.
Then I'll focus on my overhead press which is definetly my weak point in even tryimg to compete in strongman.

Thanks Bando.
Once I get it to come off the floor its all good.
Funny thing is once I get the first lift of the set the next are much easier. And yes, I do reset with each lift.
No touch and go or bounce it off the floor

Thanks and yeah I do.
I could have gone heavier, just starting low to see how tomorrow feels lol
Feelong good now but we all know how the next day feels sometimes.

Edit: next week is deload , no dls so squats will be heavier for sure.

Here's yesterdays log. Didnt have much energy last night.
We're getting duals on all the tractors so we can go play in the mud. Think I tweaked my back yesterday on the second set of tires though.

Seated ohp
4 bar
4x95#
4x115#
4x120#
2x140#
2x120#
6x90#

Bench press
5x115#
5x135#
5x145#
5x155#
2x160#

Inc db flies
5x50# per hand
5x60#

Rope pulls
5x130# per arm
10x140#
15x150#

Lat pull downs
5x70#
5x120#
4x5x180#

Seated cable rows
10x85#
10x130#
3x10x160#
5x180#

Dumbell extention

Back to dls and squats today. May go lighter as my back isnt feeling quite right.
Lack of sleep and tractor tires can put a beatin on ya.

Well I have managed to pull a muscle. Lower abdomen/groin area..........not sure if it was from lifting or work.
Been sore on my right side for a coue days, this morning its all in one area.
Need to rest, but being a farmer and the weather finally causing things to dry up its go time....
Hopefully recover and get back to the iron asap.

Well found this old journal and figured why start a new one.
Been a long time since I lifted and looks like I have a lot of work to do to get back to where I was.
Using the Bulldozer training program, did well for me in the beginning before so why not right?

So here is yesterdays workout, not pushing too hard just trying to figure where I stand to get a base to work from.

All are plate weights only and working sets not warm ups

Bench press
10x40#
7x40#
5x40#
5x40#
3x40#

Add 10# next time

DB Bench
10x25#
8x25#
8x25#
4x25#

go to 35# db next time

Seated OH Press
10x20#
5x20#
4x20#
3x20#
3x20#

These are bothering my shoulders going to do them standing next time. The seat has a slight backwards tilt to it and getting the bar gets me

DB Lat Raises
10x15#
8x15#
5x15#
6x15#

got to get 1 more rep in to move up in weight

Bent over Reverse Flye
15x20#
10x20#
5x20#

Move to 25# next time

Skull Crushers
14x20X
7x20#
4x20#

Move to 30# next time

Seated DB Extensions
10x30#
10x30#
7x309#
3x30#

Moving upto 40# next time

Thanks for lookin and it's going to be a fun ride trying to get back to my previous weights
