What do you see on the platform?
« on: December 12, 2016, 07:36:20 AM »
So, what do you see when your up on the platform?  I see nothing.  I'm totally aware of my surroundings, but I literally see nothing.  It's like the view in front of me is a blind spot.  I can see everything, but don't remember what the hell I was looking at during the lifts.  If I didn't have videos of my lifts I'd swear my eyes rolled back in my head when I was up there.

So what do you see?

LOL

Sometimes I blank right out.

My first ever squat on the platform Alex said to me after "How many people will holding up cameras?"  I had no clue.

The judge.  I sometimes close my eyes, but if they're open, I don't think I take my eyes off the judge.  Except for bench. lol.

It's not that I don't see anything, it's that I remember nothing of the movement.  I try hard to recall it, but it's like everything is working but the recording button.

And it's not once or twice this has happened.  Every Meet, every lift.  Complete blank.

I honestly think it's due to your mind being completely focused on the weight you're holding and the cues you need to hit.  It's why I have people practice, over and over, Depth and cues.  So that when your mind shuts off, your body still knows the motion.

I honestly blank out or something...

I mean, you zone out..

-- You see the judge for squats, until he says squat, then...  you squat
-- You get under the bar for bench, and just hear the commands clear as day no matter how loud the crowd is...
-- You walk out and see the arm up...  yank... wait for the arm to fall..

I never see cameras or flashes.. in my videos you can hear my wife yelling.. crowd yelling.. I don't hear a god damn thing.. its a blur.. it's adrenaline focus.

Kind of wish work was like that somedays...  hah.

I've been wondering this a lot lately.  I went to watch my first meet a couple of months ago with John and he said the same thing, focus will be on the judge and nothing more.  All the lifters seemed so dialed in.  Really starting to look forward to this.

I remember hearing the squat commands but no vision memory at all. For deads I remember hearing the crowd cheering on my last lift when I struggled a bit but I don't remember seeing anything. What a trip
