Saturday they had none of those type; classic gold crap on pedastals and I was like WTF?

AMee's brother said "Yeah, people wanted a change so that's what we're going with this year."

Me:  :(

I hated these trophies at first but now I have a little collection and they have grown on me.

Walked in today to see a whole new slew of the gawdy plaster of paris gold trophies and I was like "Awwwwww Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!"

:D

Big trophies for the big boys.

They look great in my dungeon basement gym. My Son brought his buddy over to lift once and he was looking at 4 years of those big silly trophies with amazement.

Flex- Did you opt out of a lift for bench? or do they not offer it? I really hope you can get a lift, I rarely unrack myself at heavy numbers

Yes, you can get them. Someone from the event will hand off or you can have someone you know.

I dunno why they didn't give me a hand off on my last attempt but I didn't care.  Half the time I just unrack it myself anyway.

Awesome Job, Flex. that 330 Bench looks like you had plenty more in you.

and at 1530, I still have a chance to catch you in June. We'll see how it goes.

Bummed that I missed out on the weekend. I had a great weekend sitting in a Judges Chair at another RPS Meet. nothing like watching a close friend go for a 570lb squat (At 198 Bodyweight) and fainting instead or racking it.  He would have made the lift, but fainted just before locking it out.

Congrats to you and Lisa for a great weekend.

The Spotters were right there to catch him. They caught him, and the bar.  The video is on Facebook, I'll have to see if it's public and post it here.

it's not set to Public viewing. :(

Nice work everyone, sorry I missed it but I had the Mexico vacation scheduled a year in advance, else I would have joined in the fun.

Nice PRs.

Nice Bench Flex, just 5 official lbs behind me :) though I am going to crank mine up a bit this year :)

Your 600 squat was nice, the 620.. did you think it was a sure thing or where you going in as it being a gamble? just curious, at those numbers I wouldn't really know what to add on after your 600. But, if that was a 400lb squat, and my 400-405s move like your 600, I would have been very skeptical about adding another 20 and would have called in a 5lb jump... not sure.

But again, it's a meet, so you have to push your limits...  good stuff... not criticizing, seriously just asking/curious. So don't yell at me yet again... lol.

Dude FAINTED?  That is scary as shit.  Did he get hurt?

Facebook posts look as though he is fine...  some laughing and stuff.. no wheelchair pics or anything...

I can't see the facebook vid.

I really thought I had that 620 squat.  I let my head drop. I think it was a technical issue and not a strength issue.

Maybe Alex can comment on that...

It looks very much like a technical issue.  In all honesty, Flex, you are brutally strong. I have no doubt, that if you could find a Pro Powerlifter to work with for 3 hours on your squat, you'd add 50+ pounds to it easy.
The reason I say this, is because the speed with which you move under that 600lbs.  A slightly wider stance, sitting back just a bit, keeping more of your upper body upright, and not dropping so damn deep, and really cranking the wraps tighter, would all add up. Just a handful of form tweaks and you'd see a huge jump.

In that video, three things happened almost simultaneously. You look down, your upper back tips forward, and your elbows come up.  It appears that one follows the other.  You lose all that balance and power in your upper back when that happens. Once you can't support it, it doesn't matter if it's 600 or 400lbs, you tip forward.

When I say slightly wider stance, its a few inches at most, this would allow your upper back to stay vertical, and you can really utilize all the power you have.

Tighten up your technique, add a little gas to the fire, and in all honesty, I think you'd be staring 700lbs in the face in August.  Serious, no BS.
