I wont even mention how jealous of the old milled back deep dish york plates.   FUK....the jealously I have in watching that vid is BAD  :D

I don't know if you interact with JTBNY (Johnny) at all but he has all vintage deep dish and you set them down and the sound is right out of Pumping Iron. He lives in Syracuse.

Yea.   He seems cool and then every once in a while he kinda goes off on me thinking I'm a dik.   I have strong opinions, but I dont quite get him.  Then again, I am not the easiest dude to take...I get that.  But I am straight and the same on any given day.  Dont understand the flip flop thing.

But figured IRL he is probably a good dude.

He's a great dude.

I've lifted in his basement gym a few times. After looking around a lot between sets I ascertained that he's a former Sergeant in the military with a leg basically with metal bones.

He won't and never has talked about it but I think he's basically a war hero that is just spending the rest of his life life doting on his beautiful Daughters.

Like I said, a great Dude.

I feel like every time I lift now I get weaker, but yesterday I had no knee or back pain, and I guess I had the right mix of caffeine and ephedrine and had my best squat session in almost a year.

It gave me hope.

I was like Tigger bouncing around afterwards.

Posted the vid elsewhere (non lifting forum) and everyone told me I'm too old to do shit like that and I should stop.  LMAO.

Too Old?
Last weekend, at Apocalypose, we had Artie Miller compete.  77 years old, 198, and posting up 215/175/340

The day you decide you're too old for this, is the day you start dying.

Another guy competed, 57 years old, 165, and posted up a 1025 total.

Tim Gale competed, at 48 years old.  Posted a Raw total 1670.

had a guy compete that was 53 years old.  Opened his Bench at 700lbs.

go on Open Powerlifting, and there are over 740 men 50-59, that have posted Raw totals over 1400lbs.

"Too Old" is complete BS

I totally get it.  If I have a day with no knee or shoulder pain, add the right mix of caffeine and I feel like I'm ten times stronger.  If I have some ass ache I'm weak as a cat.

Look up David Ricks. 61 yr old USAPL lifter competes in open division as well as over 60. In June he did 700/446/623 at 205. Now my favorite lifter. Sorry Alex. You got bumped  :o

Exactly how I feel.  I've had a shit go of thing lately, but I've been trying to get some strength back, and I'm not ready to quit.

I somehow managed a 545 lb deadlift on my birthday, but haven't pulled over 500 since.  Been a couple months since I benched over 300 too.

But again I felt good on Sunday, so that's something.

Lisa is starting to lift again too, having stopped in April.  Since then she's just done Yoga and daily walks.  She's slowly adding weights back in.  Makes me happy.
