Battle of the Thunder Gods V

Kicking the dust off this section...

If you don't Step Up and Do It, you Never Will.

So, I'm in.  The only real difficult thing I see right now, is the 140lb Dumbell.  Looks like I've a lot of Shoulder work ahead of me.

I went to see Gnomus Maximus compete in Scottish Games once, not my thing but fun to watch.

Meet has a most excellent name  8)

I'll have to look into this some day, this is not a good year for me to take on any new stuff.  But the women's novice section weights look surprisingly light?!

You should have come to Retribution, I'm pretty sure it was about 1/2 females  8)

Becca was nervous thinking she was gonna be the only girl. Then her nerves changed when she realized she wasn't gonna just walk in and be the strongest girl.

260 squat looked great, strong girls are as cool as the other side of my pillow.

The Women's Novice does have light weights for it, if you consider Repping a 250lb Deadlift, for women under 140lbs...

The events for me, I'm going in as a Heavy Weight Novice, shouldn't be too bad. My goal is to finish each event.  Knowing that my Overhead ability is lacking, I will have some tough event.

Monster DB clean and press 1 min time limit
HW Novice: 140lb dumbell.

Car Deadlift Straps ok, no briefs, no suits, 1 min time limit
A Car.

Keg/Sandbag/Wheel Barrow medley 50 feet each, run back for each, 90 sec time limit
HW novice: 225,225,500

Keg Toss 15 feet wall, 1 min time limit
HW Nov: 30,35,40,45

Max Stone 3 attempts Wessels rule, miss once and done.
HW novice: 48 inch high platform

The only one that looks questionable for me, is the 140lb Fat Dumbbell.
And since I'm 9 1/2 weeks out, I started my bike ride on Saturday.

I'm trying to get in a few trips to Lightning Fitness to test myself, but right now, I'm straight out with work and events until April 7th.

260 squat looked great

Dang, she's got me beat.  260 squat, especially at first meet, is awesome.  I'll be lucky to get there by my 3000th meet  ;D

Women's novice doesn't have a bodyweight limit though, at least not that I'm seeing.  The other two women's divisions are by weight.  A 250 trap bar deadlift, using straps, with bouncing off the floor allowed... still sounds kinda light for a strongman competition  ;)

Anyhoo, no biggie.  Have fun with your training and best of luck at the meet!

Well as I read it through more clearly, it looks like you're right.  So what are you waiting for? C'Mon, Kel, bring some of the Northern NY power down to Connecticut!

The high reps element would be my greatest undoing.  At this point if I tried to do more than six reps on a deadlift at ANY weight, the only question is whether they'd have to carry me off on a stretcher or in a coffin ;D

140 pound dumbbell??? How is that even possible? I can only do a 170 barbell press. I'm interested in trying a strongman but wonder how I could even get off 1 rep in some of these events.

and keep in mind, I'm in the Novice Heavyweight division.  The Big guys are looking at 180lb Dumbbell...
