I got no fire.

I just realised I had to do something about my current state. I went for a physical and, thankfully, I'm fairly healthy. My bloodwork and urinalysis came back perfectly fine, blood pressure is good. (I was very afraid she'd tell me I was diabetic with high blood pressure and high cholesterol, but I lucked out.) I still have to go for a mammogram - must do that soon. But I need to lose a lot of weight, be more active, and stretch. I'll be 50 next year. Plus, I have a stressful job and, clearly, working out is the best way to handle and manage that stress physically and mentally. I tell myself, "
Sweat more, bitch less".
So here I am.
I read other people's journals, but I don't post in them - essentially, because I haven't been training I didn't think I had any business in anybody's journal. All I have to offer is an "atta boy". So I wasn't going to start a journal here. Now that Mr Flexy has started it, I guess that's one more level of accountability for me, so that's a good thing.
I am training 3 days per week. I can only go to the gym on the days I work from home. I don't have a set schedule for when I work from home, but it tends to be 3 days a week. I am doing push/legs/pull. Strength training for about 45 minutes, and cardio for 30 minutes. It looks something like this:
Push: Bench press, shoulder press, chest press, pec deck.
Legs: Squats or deads, calves, leg curls
Pull: Cable pulldowns, seated rows
I'm also on a diet. Planning meals and tracking calories. We eat well (if I do say so myself!), so this is really all about portion control. I have a swanky new food scale to help me out there. I make my lunches on the weekend so it's a matter of only eating the pre-measured pre-portioned container each day, whether I am in the office or at home. I am making soups and stews that are vegetable-dense and protein-dense (protein from lean chicken or turkey and from legumes). Dinners will be the same dinners I've always made, just waaaaay less for me.
I'm drinking coffee with skim milk and tea with skim milk too. Decaf tea during the evenings. Plenty of water throughout the day.
Down 7 or 8 lbs since Labour Day. I don't expect this rate to keep up, but I'm glad of the jump start. I have a certain pair of jeans that I'd like to fit into by December.

If you made it this far, thanks for reading. I'll log my workouts this week, and try to be entertaining.
