Kerrville River Parade Games
« on: August 21, 2013, 09:57:38 AM »
My first Highland Games and on the day before my birthday so I was able to compete as an actual amateur one time. I didn't do so hot and was unable to finish due to my poor decision to not wear sunscreen in the Texas sun (100F that day). I got second degree burns on my head and was starting to get confused when I pulled myself from the games.

I hate that I got a DNF and missed the two events I was really looking forward to. Didn't get a single pick on the caber either which was frustrating as hell.

Time to train harder.

My results
This is all too reasonable. It will end in tears.

Current PR's
Deadlift 525
Squat 455
Bench 335
OHP 235

Sorry about the sunburn.  I don't fare well in high heat and sun either.  I am very susceptible to heat stroke.

Now that said how many events did you miss; there is a result for all the ones listed...so it looks like you did everything?

There were 9 events total. I scratched all three tries at picking the caber and didn't enter the sheaf over bar or weight over bar. The NASGA site just shows what you received a score in not necessarily all the events in the competition.

As of Sunday, I'm now in the Master's class (over 40). So the heavy weight get's lighter and the throwers are a little closer to my distances.

Tuff luck on the sunburn.  You got through most of it. Good experience.

Happy B-Day.
