Super awesome squatting today.

Speed and depth are noticeably better.  I think the Yoga is helping and it pains me to admit that.

Time to pull my auld journal off the shelf.

I stopped posting because I wasn't seeing any progress - just same old same old and who wants to read that?

I didn't train over Christmas break.

Then my dad had a stroke and was in hospital for an extended stay.  I trained sporadically during this time because I was needed at the hospital which meant making up lost work time during early mornings and evenings.

Speaking of work, Q1 is always crazy busy because I am working on a report to be filed with the US government by March 31.

My dad is now home and going to out-patient rehab and he is doing really well.  I am super proud of his determination.

Having worked 7 days a week since January, my report is filed.

So I am back at the gym.  The last time I trained was Feb 13th and before that Feb 2.  So it wasn't a stellar day, but it did feel good to be back.

Bench Press:
45 x 10
95 x 6
105 x 5
115 x 2
115 x 1
115 x fail
95 x 6
95 x 5
95 x 5
95 x 4
94 x 4
95 x 3

Cardio:
Treadmill, 20 minutes

I won't be competing in April, but i'll be there to cheer and film.  May is even sketchy.  But August is hopeful!  lol...

Was super awesome having you with me in the gym again.

I think for sure you should get on the platform in May, and maybe even April.

It will come back fast, I promise.

Great to see you back.  Also sorry to hear about your dad,  My dad broke his hip a few month ago and that turned into a 8 week hospital stay.  Not trying to compare a stroke to a hip, don't get me wrong, but it's a lot of work for us kids isn't it.  I know my training took a back seat during that time.  Great to hear he's back home now and recovering well.

When I went to watch and cheer you guys on in August last year the first thing that I thought when I walked into the room was damn, I should be on the platform.  It was tough to watch only lol  ....just sayin' ;D

Sorry to hear about your Dad  :( Though I'm glad to hear he is making a good recovery  ;D

As for training, we all hit plateaus. It's time, persistence, pain, and searching for obvious things that can be overlooked...like sodium for instance (not to say that is something you have issues with) in order to progress.

Also fear/mental barriers can be a massive component a well.

If you want to bad enough, you'll get there and I know you will.

Glad you're back at it. Real sorry to hear about your dad but glad he's recovering. That certainly takes precedence over training in my book. You have a good  coach though and I'm sure he could have you setting pr's again by the end of April if you wanted. :D

Thanks so much, Friends!!

Dave, I hope your dad's hip is on the mend.  Scary stuff when they fall.  :'(

Updates coming.  I was in the office, but otherwise trained everyday.  Even today.
