2016 Europa Games USPA Powerlifting Championships
« on: January 04, 2016, 03:08:58 PM »
April 29th
Time to become a man and pop the cherry!!   ;D ;D

This will be my (and my lifting partners) first meet.
Full power, raw modern
I'll be competing in Sub-master and my buddy , the old fart, will be competing master class.
Looking at the 242 class....not sure I want to risk strength loss getting down to the 220 class.

Fortunately, it's located right here in Orlando so I don't have to worry about traveling.

Time to get serious!

Nice. 1st one is special, like your first kiss, except there was probably a lot fewer big hairy Men in singlets to witness your 1st kiss. (Not that there's anything wrong with that)

Make sure you train with commands.  Best if you have someone call out for you but otherwise you can just call them out to yourself in your head.

Most red lights I see are because people don't follow the commands.

We've started doing this with Bench, we may not be using the right command words, but are doing it in 3 parts....go...press...rack.

Are there any commands for squat and DL?  I never noticed them at the meets other than "Go" or "Squat"

Commands for bench were recently changed to "Start", "Press", "Rack"  (previous was "Bench", "Press, "Rack")

Squat commands are "Squat", "Rack"

For deads they raise their arm when the bar is loaded and you start when you are ready (you have 1 minute) and when you lock out they lower their arm and give the command "Down"

Detailed rules are here:

http://www.revolutionpowerlifting.com/rules/?page_id=14

But they have not been updated for the change from "Bench" to "Start".

Since you're competing in the USPA, you might want to review their rulebook.

http://uspla.org/home/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/USPA-Rulebook-v110412.pdf

Socks that cover the shin, is a big change from RPS.  They use "Start, Press, Rack" on the Bench. Everything else it pretty much similar.

Good luck!

Good luck! Just read a bit on the USPA; looks like they limit knee wraps at 2.5m (rps is 3m).

USPA- anyone know if a rolling deadlift is legal or not?  I read through the rules and couldn't find info about it.  I don't do it, my partner does so we want to make sure it's ok.

You could ask the meet director or at the rules meeting. If he's getting momentum I doubt it would be kosher.

HOLY FUCK!!  My lifting partner called the guy listed in charge of the powerlifting at the Europa.  This is the current 2016 webpage for the event and the guy said he is not in charge of the meet nor is he affiliated with USPA anymore...wtf I just sent him my application with payment the other day!!  Fortuantely, (hopefully) he sounds like a good guy and said he'll tear up the check and send it back. However, now we have to try to figure out who the hell is in charge of the even and how to get a hold of them and send our apps in to them.
