That is a nice looking tree!   I need more 10's also!  Made in Canada?....  Never seen that before.  You get them at Canadian Tire?  :D

Bought them refurbished from a dude on FB.

I can now do standing OHP up to 215 lbs.  Due to low ceiling in my basement I can't put anything bigger than a 10 lb plate on the bar for OHP.

He did a pretty decent job IMO.

You ever going back to a commercial gym? I canceled my main gym membership and they refunded me right back to when they closed last year due to the Rona.

I have 3 gym memberships.  When they re-open I will cancel two of them. I will keep the one with the pool. Lisa likes to go for a swim sometimes and that is her favorite of the 3. Might go once or twice a week, since doing a decent upper back workout at home is tough given what I have.  But I will never go to the gym for the big 4 lifts.  No need to.

I was in our little community fitness center last night incline benching 225, had like 7 kids stop talking and just watch me. Then I got a spot for one set and that allowed me to get an extra 2 reps that I wouldn't have attempted alone.

There's some things I really like about public gyms.

Never once had a spot in the gym. Srs.    Except for maybe 2 or 3 times.    I did not feel comfortable benching 405 for the first time by myself even though I knew I could do it.    Dont think I have ever 'failed' a rep (outside a comp) where I missed 440 bench.

I generally always know that I can lift something.  During a set, I cant imagine 'finding' a rep.   Maybe that means I leave too much on the table?   Just feel like I know when I have one more in me and when it is time to rack it.

I dont like pushing so hard that I am not in full control of a rep.  That kind of stuff scares me too much with risk of injury.    For me, breaking form is when I get hurt.   I always rack it before I get to that point.

I've done some monster squats and deadlifts in public gyms many times and no one ever gives a fuck.  I don't need an audience.

I'd rather do those lifts at home where I can literally spend up to two hours with no one bugging me and listening to my own music.

Only lift I would ever need a spot for is bench and if I want I have Lisa and Liam to spot me.

I have done a few sets of bench to failure recently and dumped the bar on the safeties.  I'm comfortable with that.

I guess I'm getting something out of the social aspect in an outside gym, maybe it's all the years I've been the Adviser for a college weightlifting club.

I do know that if I had the sweet home setups that you guys have it would be easier to for me to find the motivation to train at home.

The annoyances of lifting in a commercial gym far outweigh the minor social benefits.

Keep in mind that except weekends I train in the wee hours.  I'm grumpy and don't want to talk to anyone and the place is usually deserted.

I kind of like not having to drive anywhere, especially in the winter.

I get up, make some coffee, and head to the basement.  I really like it.

If I had more room I'd get a nice cable machine and never set foot in a gym again.

Very glad I have crap at home.  I'd hate to try and get shit done at a commercial gym.  Only gyms I've been in, other than when on vacation the past ten years or so are small privately owned gyms.

Yeah this is hard to beat.

Listening do whatever music I like without having to fuck around with earbuds an shit is great to.  I have 3 different streaming services to choose from and a dedicated tablet just for the gym and a nice JBL bluetooth speaker.

But I think the best part is getting everything ready the night before so I can just start lifting right away.

Commercial gyms most times I have to clean up other peoples shit, find the bar I like for the particular exercise, set things up, whatever. It's maddening.

None of that shit to deal with at home.  I already have my rack set up for OHP tomorrow morning because Liam is not lifting tonight.

I set up beforehand for the first time this week.  Can't believe I was too dumb to figure that out before.  My schedule has been Friday with a trainer at his gym, Sunday, and Tuesday night.  Setting up after the workout on Sunday is going to be my go to as long as I'm on the same routine.  I knew you where a smaht ked flex.   8)

It's much easier to set up for the next workout at the end of your current one, especially if you start lifting at 6am half asleep before the coffee kicks in.

But since Liam works out in the evening I can't always do that, unless I know in advance he's taking a rest day.

I try to go down there when he's done and set up for the morning though.
