Elite:  Refers specifically to athletes competing in strength sports. Less than 1% of the weight training population will attain this level.

RPS has Totals that will qualify you for certain levels.  If you total above a certain amount, you can choose to compete as a Pro, or Elite (If you're gassed up, you go Pro, if you're clean, you go Elite and get drug tested.

Birdie, that was an awesome job you did!  Some serious power you have at 165lbs.!!

I'm starting to have second thoughts about not competing in August in NY....

Thank you everyone, I appreciate both all of the good wishes before the meet and the congrats after  :-*

Got vids up of my top lifts, and took hotel selfies after I got back from the hot tub. Looked halfway decent even though I ate EVERYTHING yesterday and today, lol. Will start cut Mon to get down to 148 class for June *sigh*, at 178 right now full of foodz

Will get the fail up tomorrow probably. Need to crash soon to slumber well, wake up for many waffles for breakfast and go see the big boys lift for a bit before the 2.5 hr drive home.

Vids are pretty cool in that in some you can see me lift "IRL" as well as up on the screen, lol.

365 lb Squat raw w/wraps @163.4, female

155 lb Bench Press raw @163.4, female

350 lb raw Deadlift @163.4, female

Congrats, what an amazing job!
I'd think that you would bench more than that, based on how much you can squat and DL.
EVERYTHING you put in your body matters IF you want to reach your maximum potential.

Thanks! Unfortunately my bench, and to a degree my DL, is affected by quite significant neck problems that I have. I have several bad discs, one of which (C5-C6) is ruptured and migrated down, giving me spinal stenosis (compressing spinal cord), and I also have reversal of the normal cervical curve. That disc and several others, plus some significant bony overgrowth, has also severely compressed several nerve roots so that they affect the sensory and motor nerves affecting my arms/upper back (especially left side), as well as my neck and even part of my face and jaw.

I had a really bad tweak Oct 2012 after getting a 140 at a meet, where I lost virtually all strength in my left arm (could not even lean against a wall without left arm buckling, and could not look up), it took me two years and one month to get my strength back +5 lb over that to get 145 at my meet this past Nov. So getting another 10 lb since then is excellent for me, even better is that I am keeping the dysfucntion under control with a ton of attention to form, prehab, home therapy, etc.

For me "looking up" is bad ju-ju in a lift. You can see with my DL I cue a packed/neutral neck at the start, and also keep it very neutral for squat. I might have it up just a tad with my 375 fail, and at this grindy bit of a 350 DL but I train as neutral as possible and cannot strain it up or very, very bad things may happen...

I will need surgery, but as I am "ok" (not getting worse) for now, I am holding off till maybe next year. MRI from earlier this year:

Amazing vids and very inspiring.

My very own Miss Lisa is poised to hit a 550 plus total in June at 50 yrs old at her first meet.

Strong is the new sexy.

Haha, actually I competed in the 148 class for 3 of  my 4 years competing, only this year has it become hard to become lean enough to keep strength to be there, and been in higher classes last 2 meets. Want to drop back for a last hurrah, total elite there easily, and set some 148 records.

great stuff. WR Comp PR's are the blood I feed on to stay young, keep them coming

Thank you! Yes, it does help drive me on a bit even though just improving over *myself* is most important  :D

What meet is she doing? Soooo cheering her on, and as a fellow barely-legal-depth squatter (from what I gather from a few threads I've seen mention her training), I commiserate but know she can do it! First meets are amazing experiences (well, all meets are, but you never forget your first!), can't wait to hear it goes!

As for the elite discussion, there are generally accepted elite standards (revised to be higher a couple years ago) that several feds have also adopted to make the cutoff for their own elite/pro categories for competing:
http://www.criticalbench.com/powerlifting-elite-classifications.htm

I have taken to competing "pro" the last two meets as if I were to go with WADA defintions, my use of ephedra in-meet, glycerol within 24 hours (I use it during rehydration), as well as bromocriptine and sometimes albuterol while cutting would be considered banned substances. Not that they are illegal in the "real world", but still would give some degree of an edge even though I don't go into territory where I may grow man-parts, lol.  :o While that may make it a little harder to place well during a meet than if I was competing amateur as well as against those ladies who utilize all potential "bonuses" in pro, registering pro vs elite amateur in a meet doesn't affect how I rank against myself or those up on powerliftingwatch or other high-level rankings.

This is the meet we're doing in June:

http://meets.revolutionpowerlifting.com/2015/06/13/maple-leaf-nationals-2/

It's only a 30 minute drive or so from where we live so no hotel room required.

Then of course we're doing the NY meet in August in Rochester with the rest of the usual suspects on this board.  :)
