Whew! That was fun as hell! I really appreciate all you guys and girls cheering me on. I did check occasionally after each flight and smiled from your encouragement.
I didn't get to my goal, but I got experience and set some PRs for myself. I wish my first attempt came out but my videographer didn't realize at first that my phone was still in picture mode so she got a still of me standing there. I paused too long in the bottom and lost all momentum coming out of the hole. When I got backstage, one of the guys I buddied up with said "Ron, pause is for benching. Down and back up!" I was only worried about getting deep enough and wasn't really paying attention to my cues. He said I stayed in the bottom for a good 2 count. The 300 was the slowest of my squats and was a grinder! It also made me rethink my 2nd and 3rd attempts.
SQUATS
2nd attempt (320)
3rd attempt (340)
BENCH
1st attempt (225)
2nd attempt (240)
3rd attempt (250 no-lift)
DEADLIFT
1st attempt (340)
2nd attempt (370)
3rd attempt (390 no-lift)
That 3rd deadlift bar may as well been nailed to the floor for me. I knew it'd be a stretch, but I had to try. Someone told me i was too far forward of the bar and i was in at a mechanical disadvantage and that's why I failed where I did. I need to reconstruct my DL because I feel I have a lot more lbs left in me.
I earned a dozen man-roses for when the girls go to bed. My back is a wreck but I am still going to do cardio tonight too

Depending on how I feel on Monday will determine whether or not I kick of a 5/5/5 week or a deload week. The way my back feels now it is deload all the way for deads and likely squats. Bench I feel like I can give another go at the 250 I missed.
For anyone on the fence about competing or thinking you need to lift xxx number of pounds or kg to compete. Don't wait. Chances are you will always think you need more. Sign up, go lift, and enjoy the living F out of it as I just did.
Again, thank you so much for all your help in my first of many meets. I look forward to stepping on the platform with you all in August.
98 days 'til competition!
