squat 275
deads got 365, but did not push it
bench 310

it still blows my mind that you can bench more than you squat.  does not compute

and looking solid flex
you want a I-S shirt.  They have sales all the time, get one then.

My best were....

Mon 315x9 full rest pause bench reps.

Squat 0
Dead 0

Traveling to visit inlaws in va.

On a funny note, my wife was busting my balls about how I cant run.  She says I am too bulky to run....gorillas dont run...etc.

So tonight we had a race after dinner at my inlaws with the kids split between who they thought would win. My inlaws were laughing the whole time.   For some background, my wife was a good runner in college and still about in same shape, maybe better then when she was 20.

I actually was not sure I could run with my hip....but that was not going to stop me.

I totally dusted her 3 times (she would not accept defeat the first 2 times) in a 40yd dash.  By the first 5 strides I had her toasted so bad I just coasted the rest of the way.   Explosive power not too bad for a gorilla :)

I could never run as a kid/teen.

When I started lifting and got big legs I got fast.

There was this skinny hockey player and sprinter at work that used to bust my balls all the time saying I was too big and bulky to be functional and blah blah yadda yadda, so we had a race at work.  He beat me, but only by half a stride; I was right next to him as we crossed the 'finish line'.

Was very lulzy. He never said shit after that.   ;D

This week:

Missed the Lockout on a 595lb dead. Close, but Quite there.  545x3 went well though.

Squat, was and easy 465x2, with a looong walk out. Close to 5 feet to get clear of the rack.

Bench was a nice 275lbx3

All is looking good.

I usually squat in a power rack. Unrack, one quick step back and in position.  This week, it was occupied (yes, he was squatting, and below parallel, too).  So, I decided that I'd use the regular racks. The disadvantage is, that there are no safety catches. Plus, I didn't have a spotter.  Summoning my "Thou Shalt not Fear the Weight" attitude, I unracked 465, and walked it way back into the open area. Buried both reps, and walked it back in.

My goal for this Meet, is 525/315/610.
Openers will be 485/275/575, Second attempts will be 525/315/595, finals will depend on how seconds go.  Except Dead, which I'll aim my 3rd attempt at a 610lb lift. On a separate note, the 610lb will be a record attempt for my division.  Which means I can take a 4th attempt if I miss it on the 3rd.

Thanks!! I missed the 610 at the Europa. My caveat to that, is I was honestly tired.  I Squatted at 11:30am, benched at 2:30, and then Deaded at 6:30 at night.  A few of my friends told me after I benched, that I looked exhausted. Honestly I was tired, and really needed a 1/2 hour nap. But in the Middle of the Expo, there was no way. I expect at the NY Meet, it'll be a much quicker timeline and therefore, I'll be a bit fresher and have a better shot at cracking 600lbs and grabbing the record.  I knew at the Europa, that I was spent after my second Dead, but I also knew it'd leave too many questions in my mind if I didn't attempt a shot at the record.  As soon as it came off the floor, I knew I had 3/4 of a lift, but wouldn't get the lock out.  Decided not to risk an injury and gave in at 6" off the floor.

My final goal, over the next few years, is 675lb deadlift, a 595lb squat and a 340ish Bench.  That total puts me just over the 1600lb mark at 1610lbs.  The current records in my division are 605/590/430 and a total of 1585.  I don't think my shoulders would ever stand up to a 430+ Bench (the record holder is a Bench only guy, so...), but the other two and the Total are attainable.

On that note, Flex, if you hit 525 this week, you'll be well into the high 500's at the Meet.  Not all that far behind me.  I think our totals will be damn close.

DA

I heard you mention a 4th attempt if you are going for a record.  Can you do that for all lifts?   If you get a chance, what are the 198 recs?

Also should I jest enter masters or masters and open?

And the current records for Amateur, 275lb, Raw Modern, Masters 45-49 division (that's yours right Flex?)

is 540/430/565 = 1535lbs.

ID,
Yes, any attempt (1st,2nd or 3rd) you make, can break or set a record. If you hit all three attempts and you're just shy of a record, they allow you to take a 4th attempt to break the record.

I'm not sure what division you're entering, but here's the link to the records search: http://revolutionpowerlifting.com/records/index.php

For example, if you're in the Pro, 198lb, Raw Modern, Masters 40-45 division, the records are 550/310/540 = 1400.  Which was just set at the Europa.
As for Open/Masters, you can enter both, and it usually means you'll take home more than one trophy.  However the records are considerably different. 760/380/740 and the total is 1780 for the Pro, 198, Raw Modern, Open Division.

Looks  like it.

The guy that holds the current records for all 3 lifts in my class has vids on his youtube channel.  He did 4 attempts at each lift.

Funny raw modern records are much lower then classic!  I dont get how a bench can be modern?

I dont use wraps.  I would think records would be cool, but the thought of entering a specific division, just to get a record seems silly.  Am I off on this.?

The only differing aspects on Raw Modern and Modern is using knee wraps for Squat.

Raw means Wrist Wraps and Belt.
Raw Modern is Wrist Wraps, Belt and Knee Wraps.

The variation in records, is because RPS is only about 2 years old, and the records are still being set in different divisions. Hence the I held the world record for my division for 9 months.  I hit a 430/265/535.

So ID, you're in the 198lb Pro, Raw, Masters 40-44 division? nice!

I'm entering my division, because that's where I plan on competing for the next 4+ years.  I couldn't care about the trophy, I just know that pushing myself to break the records for that division is a great drive incentive for me.

Spotter? We don't need no stinking Spotters...
Actually, the guy in the green shirt hidden behind me is one of my training partners. When I went for the 610, he did step in and spot me.

Heck, I have a pair of wraps.  I might just throw them on and see how my squat feels next week.

It is my understanding that many feds outside rps dont separate raw classic and modern, so I might as well get used to using straps if I am going to compete in other feds.   At least that is what I am thinking.....am I thinking right?
