Yep, I do cardio.  So what?  And you know what else . . . it's in the form of running or Zumba.  Take that!

Lolz, why would you be ashamed?

I cut my grass weekly for cardio ;D

In BB circles, cardio is commonly laughed at and mocked.  I enjoy it, though.  Especially when the weather starts getting nice.  I love being outside.

I, for one, like cardio.

In fact I could watch people do it all day.

I do tons of cardio.  45 minutes before lifting 5 days a week.  Running, step mill, heavy bag, and ellipse machine.  Intervals are killer!  I also run twice a week during lunch at work, 5 miles each time.

I don't think cardio and lifting are opposites, I think they both have their place depending on your goals.

I've always enjoyed cardio.  I truly miss my days as an aerobics/boot camp/spin instructor.  I got really close with so many of my students in those classes.  I'm contemplating getting my Zumba certification: 1) because I miss teaching, and 2) because there's a bit of a gap in my area for good instructors. My best friend was leading locally and making $300-$500 a week for two hours of instruction!  She went to another area and the guy that replaced her has zero energy, a crap body, and he's lost so many of the clientele that she built up.  I'd like to get it going again and get the moolah.

I do cardio every time I go to the gym.  Not that it has been helping much lately.

20 minutes of treadmill before 15-20 minutes after.  Except on Leg day.  Then it's just 10 minutes before and 15 minutes after.

I know many bodybuilders that do it.  Not many while bulking, but everyone when prepping for a show.  Including the Chemically fueled guys.

Simpy, I say do it.  A good Cardio instructor helps increase the gym membership, and that makes it better for everyone.

Really? I find cardio to be quite helpful with my bigger lifts such as deads and squats, good cardio helps keep me from getting winded as fast.

: hochspeyer March 29, 2012, 10:30:55 PM
I'm trying to increase my cardio. I've started actually plugging in the elliptical and kicking up the resistance.
: Re: I will not be ashamed . . .
: LithiuM23 March 30, 2012, 11:49:47 AM
I usually do at least 30-45 mins of elliptical a day. I find it does help with my endurance.
: Re: I will not be ashamed . . .
: Simp April 02, 2012, 09:20:42 AM
I've never found that cardio helps my endurance with lifting.  I believe that if you want to have more endurance in a sport, you should train for endurance in that sport. More running will increase running endurance.  More lifting, often with less rests, will increase lifting endurance.  Of course there are supplemental things that a person can do, but I wouldn't think that 45 minutes on an elliptical will help your lifting endurance any more than, and likely less, than actually lifting.

I ran this morning around campus and I won't lie.  . .  it sucked.  I struggled the entire time.  My MapMyRun app also struggled.  It said I did 5.6 miles.  Lol.  I mapped it myself and it was 2.6, which is closer to what I thought.

i've been doing cardio at least once a day for a few weeks now (restart)
i had never done it at all until two years ago or so
it certainly doesn't interfere with my energy for anything else and i am slimming down while still eating big
i do 20-60 min. 1-2times a day

but all the bushings are wearing out on the elliptical and no amount of oiling and tightening will stop them from squawking

so early this morning, my second session i went for a run to see how i would do (just altogether the wrong time to start making all that noise with the fire escape door open for air and everything, is a very close courtyard environment)
ran about 400 m
is much more challenging than the elliptical
my shoes are in no way appropriate for that much impact on concrete
my lower legs and knees took a lot of jarring

the only good footwear i have with arch support and impact absorption is hiking and work-boots
my only real 'jogging' experience is double-timing through the woods
i'm not far from a park but i would still have to get there

there wasn't nearly the enjoyment to be had from looking around enjoying the scenery that one might have expected

my normal 'quick' gait is a loping, gliding silent ninja-walk that will likely trigger a 911 call if people see me slipping through their neighbourhood at dawn like that

Running is work, that's for sure.

I got nice running shoes for $40.00, I think they are critical.

Oh, and welcome to IS Kroh  :D

Seriously? Do you have yours setup with a tray like at A&W driveups so you can snack on a burger and fries while exercising?

all the cardio is keeping a moderate level of inflammation present in my body
i read something this Matt Porter guy said about inflammation creating a naturally anabolic environment for muscle growth
so i pushed myself into a high state of inflammation with frequency of cardio and strength training and only backed off a little to keep everything feeling mildly 'hot'
i noticed changes right away and almost every day since

does anyone need to be reminded who is clown #1 for pushing the 'report' button on other people?

most of it in my upper body
my butt is bigger but not my legs

i figure i'll be  okay as long as i can find a woman who likes a big upper body and a round butt, but doesn't care about the legs so long as they are fit

what do you think of my chances?

been doing as if a job
odd to think how modest my plans were 2 or so years ago
this was only meant to be an accessory
ensure i had the energy, confidence, presentability for whatever i found for the rest of my life
this is the only part that met with any success

i have this time now
i thought it would take 3-5 years to get to 215lbs @8% BF
at this rate, it could happen inside of a year
i wish it was enough because its all i have

If I'm not sprinting for cardio, I like to ruck march, I'll throw about 50-60 LBS in a ruck and walk for 10-12 miles. I also like running steps. Here in kansas I haven't found a good place to ruck at tho. I mostly like hills and other obsticles to go over.

I tried hiking with some friends from work last November and nearly died. My cardio is pretty good for a 300 lber, but I'm not made for climbing boulders and shit lol. I wish I was, because lower mainland British Columbia has a lot of mountains/hikes!
